Born into a large Wexford Irish/Welsh family in the South Wales mining village of Maesteg, Sean's rambling, childhood adventures in the woodlands and hills around his native town created an early bond with nature and art.
Continuing his strong passion for natural studies, Sean focused on art and Design at Archbishop McGrath Catholic Comprehensive School, Tondu, and went on to study a foundation course at Cardiff University.
After completing a four-year degree at Middlesex Polytechnic, Sean settled in Dale and discovered the environmental delights of Pembrokeshire. The inspiration, smell, movement and taste of the sea initiated a creative theme spanning two decades that has seen interactive sculptures and carvings using driftwood, trees and timbers installed along the South Wales coast from Milford Haven to Porthcawl.
Throughout the UK, Centerparcs, Legoland and countless play areas and restaurants have become the home for Sean's 'Themism'. With commissions and private sales that comprise a Dylan Thomas bust; The Celtic Sculpture Trail at Margam Country Park; maritime, jetty-pile totem poles for Associated British Ports; the Giant 'Tesco Bag' Installation; the 100 ft 'Mountain Man' of Mynydd Dinas at Port Talbot; plus the intriguing Millennium Gnome!
Following a meeting with Nant-y-Coy Mill owner Margaret Merritt at the annual summer paintings and sculpture extravaganza in Dale, Sean is now back in Pembrokeshire for the birth of 'Leprechaun Sean' the latest installation for the mill's Sculpture Valley.
The Leprechaun will join other Kehoe sculptures in the magical environment of Nant y Coy's 35 acres providing an artistic dimension to the wonderful nature and scenery surrounding the Mill, and providing a fun backdrop to the constantly refreshed gallery exhibits.
