Rhys - I remember your grandparents. Your g/f worked on the railway. There was another pub around the corner - The Greyhound? If anyone has a photo of St. Martin's Church, I'd love to see it. I was born in a house called "Frowen" opposite the DCL and next to Jones's sweetshop. Oh!Happy days!

Many happy memories of Haverfordwest, particularly the hot summers of '75 and '76. The economy was buoyant, boosted by RAF families and the American naval personnel. The Friars, the Carmarthen Arms and The Bristol Trader were popular pubs. The Roch Gate discos with Christopher Lee were briliant. I have moved on but remember with fondness all the lovely people I once knew.

Just found a picture of the old War Memorial Hospital where I was born - now Princess Royal....I remember when my mum went in for the birth of my younger brother and sister. We lived in Winch Lane then and used to turn the bedroom lights on and off so she knew we were going to bed. Thanks again for bringing back forgotten memories.

Hi there do you have any photos of Main Street Fishguard,H/West? My great grandpa was a painter there employing 1 man in 1881. He and his family lived in 24 Main Street. His name was Henry Mathias, wife Mary. Cheers, Anne.

I grew up in Haverfordwest and I know every street in the pictures. It is funny that although the people and the fashions have changed I can still see the same wonderful town from my childhood staring back at me in the photos of yesteryear.
I visit as much as I can and still get a friendly welcome even from strangers I love and miss its streets greatly. Thank you for helping me to revisit my childhood with your site

They certainly do bring back memories as way back in 1978 I lived in Hakin for a year and my youngest son Sion was born at Withybush hospital!

Both my grand and great-grandmother were the landladies of The Gloster Arms (the building on the left of the picture. you can just see a sign protruding from the wall). Many people today still remember my grandmother 'Kitty the Gloster' and I spent many happy Christmases as a child in that pub in the 1960's, listening to the men in the bar below singing Christmas carols on Christmas Eve before the wended their merry way along Dark St and up Tower Hill.
