North Gower coast: In Pictures

Stephen John shares this selection of pictures of the North Gower coast, including views of Llangennith, Burry Holmes and Llanmadoc. One of the most popular views taken on Gower is of Rhossili Bay looking north - Stephen re-dresses this with a couple of shots of the famous bay looking south.

I would love to see some photos of Penclawdd and North Gower taken from the new Pentre Nicklaus site. The sunset from this position is spectacular.

Lee, they are the Black Mountains which can be seen from many places in North and central Gower

No Whiteford, no Weobley, no Betty Church nothing around Penclawdd (the coalmines and factories closed long ago) no saltmarsh, no lighthouse! This is not the North Gower as I know it but just the North-West corner.

I was at Swansea University in the late 60's and spent time on Rhossili Beach after exams. My wife and I were lucky enough to be in student hall at Clyne Castle. Its valley garden, with many of the plants collected from overseas by Admiral Vivian, was like a Disney set when in full bloom. The Gower surely has to be one of the most lovely places in Wales. It is very special to us both.

Surely thats around Cefn Bryn? Black Mountains would be 30 miles distant?

I have flown (on a paraglider) Rhossili many times. One of the best sites in the country. Love it!

I used to stay in the old huts near Llanmadoc in the early 70s. This was the summer school with the local chapel. There was a little chapel in one of the buildings, a dining hall, & 4 or 5 barracks. Just below the campsite was a caravan park. This was a great holiday for all of us, and we used to be on the beach most of the time.

there is more to north gower than the photo's shown. no one seems to regard penclawdd on the agenda, penclawdd is beautiful when the estuary is covered by the sea also we have spectacular sunsets i am always disapointed when tv radio and others neglect to include us in their comments.
