I was disappointed when I visited Gorseinon last year to see crumbling bricks fallen on to the pavement outside the Council Office. It looked unkempt and neglected. Also Argyll Gardens which was always beautifully groomed had weeds growing up through flowering bushes. It looked unkempt. There was rubbish lying around. Very disappointing.

The Lido Cinema which is a lovely Art Deco type bulding has been boarded up for years. This is the central part of Gorseinon and it should be well cared for. One bright spot was the cafe on the square run by very pleasant ladies. Delicious lunch.

I lived in Grovesend and went to Gowerton School. I go "home" every year and my heart sank to see Gorseinon looking so neglected.

Red Jones from Gorseinon
I would love Gorseinon to have a traditional brass band of our own. Smaller communities in this area have their own such as Loughor, Penclawdd and Pontarddulais. There are many former brass band players (of all standards and all ages) that I am sure would love to play again. I am sure that if our council would get involved with this project that this would become a great success and would benefit the community enormously.

My association with Gorseinon started in 1974, when my family moved to Pontarddulais from east London and I started school at Penyrheol Comp school. I have always loved the area, but feel that some more thought needs to go into planning the town layout better. Traffic is always congested now mainly due to new build housing and an increase in the local populus. It is a shame. With a bit of forethought traffic congestion could be a thing of the past.
