This year's annual Fishguard Folk Fest was a delightful success! Held over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, the weather (a surprising mixture of wonderful sunshine and blustery squalls) brought a large attendance at all the festival events.
The number of artists, an increase on previous years, and the casual musicians and dancers who just wanted to join in the impromptu sessions, rendered a wide spectrum of traditional and contemporary folk music and dance.
The town was really alive with music all weekend.
At Lower Town harbour the Morris dancing and the excellent sea-shanty singing at the Ship Inn contrasted well with contemporary arrangements in the Upper Town at the festival marquee and the very traditional jigs and reels heard in the Royal Oak & Farmers Arms pubs.
The Theatr Gwaun was the site for children's music workshops and formal concerts, all well attended. The family Twmpath at the Railwayman's Club was great fun!
All in all, a wonderful weekend of music and dance that puts Fishguard firmly on the map for live music in west Wales!

I had a wonderful time as always. It is a very friendly festival and a wonderful landlord at The Oak. I enjoyed the singarounds down at The Ship very much. Thanks to Gary for running them. I hope to see you all next year.
