Have a look Mark Cox's Slideshow
What's your name?: Mark Cox
Where are you from originally and where are you now?: Although one side of my family orginates from Pembrokeshire I was born in Birmingham. I have lived and worked in Mid and West Wales for over 30 years. I have now settled in Carmarthen.
What medium / media do you work in?: I work in oil paint and watercolour
How would you describe your work?
I am an eclectic artist but with a strong emphasis on traditional skills and values. I paint landscapes and seascapes with the occasional portrait.
What are your influences and inspirations?: I am influenced by painters too numerous to list but they include Paul Rubens, Winslow Homer, David Cox. Joseph Mallord Turner, and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.I am inspired by the rugged beauty of the landscape and the effect of light upon it.
Which piece are you most proud of and why?: I am pleased with my works reflecting the daily comings and goings of the Milford Waterway. These pieces are a record of an industrial gateway to Wales. If I had to pick out a favourite painting it would be of the tanker Miss Claudia at the Chevron terminal.
Have you had any exhibitions - if so, where? Do you have any planned in the future?: I have shown some of my works in the National assembly for Wales and the Koywood Galley. I show and paint in the Lounge Gallery, Waverley, carmarthen and have shown at various other venues.
What are your views on the current arts scene nationally and in South Wales?: The art scene in Wales is vibrant but I often feel that the tradition of painting is often dismissed as "not cutting edge" and of little value which is to my mind a short sighted view.

I love Mark Cox's work. He puts 'soul' in a landscape and his colours are absolutely wonderful. I own one of his originals - one of his wonderful Llansteffan Castle paintings. Lots of his beautiful cards and a couple of prints from original paintings.
