Have a look at Lynne Huntley Davies' Slideshow
What's your name? Lynne Huntley Davies
Where are you from originally and where are you now? From and still living in Swansea, apart from 2 years in Barry in the early 1990's.
What medium / media do you work in? Acrylic on canvas.
How would you describe your work?
Contemporary/abstract.
What are your influences and inspirations? No special influences as such, but I have always enjoyed the works of Dali, Picasso and Matisse. I also have a personal love of Monet. I take my inspiration from anything and everything, from my surroundings to the colours in a flower arrangement. I am constantly looking at the way I can adapt shapes and colours to my paintings. I am fortunate in that I seem to have an unlimited amount of imagination and ideas, although sometimes a painting will just evolve and end up as something totally different to my initial idea! I am constantly experimenting with styles and mediums to give my paintings added texture. I particularly like using metallic and pearlescent paints to add further interest and another dimension.
Which piece are you most proud of and why? A difficult one to answer. I have been really pleased with them all. Being totally self-taught and still fairly new to it I am still growing and experimeting with new ideas, styes and textures and each one I finish gives me a sense of great pride and satisfaction.
Have you had any exhibitions - if so, where? Do you have any planned in the future? I recently had my first exhibition at Mumbles Art and Craft Centre in Treasure, Mumbles during the month of April. Prior to this I had been busy building up a collection for the exhibition as well as completing commissioned work. I am now concentrating on further exhibitions and other venues to display my work.
Please give a brief description of one or two of the projects you've worked on recently. Just been busy building up a collection for my first exhibition.
What are your views on the current arts scene nationally and in South Wales? Very exciting. There seems to have been a rise in Galleries and the different types of work being exhibited, which is a good thing There are lots of talented artists in Wales and it is encouraging to see their work being exhibited and readily accessible to the public. More and more people are becoming aware of good artwork as it is now becoming extremely popular to display at Cafes and Bars, thereby reaching a wider audience and increasing awareness of what is available in today's market.
