What's your name?: Janet Hardy
Where are you from originally and where are you now?: From Berkshire, moved around England quite a lot and arrived in Wales in the seventies. Now living and working in Llandeilo.
What medium / media do you work in?: Stained glass, fused and etched glass. Mosaic and three dimensional pieces.
How would you describe your work?
My work at the moment is mainly made to commission, for a wide variety of settings from churches and chapels to offices, schools and homes.
I work closely with each client to produce something that is unique and individual to them.
What are your influences and inspirations?: I was fortunate to be able to study Architectural Glass at Swansea, graduating in 1979. There we had a thorough grounding in all the traditional disciplines of stained glass. Equal emphasis being placed on design and craftsmanship.
Having travelled in Europe recently the colours and light have made me think about working in a more painterly way.
Which piece are you most proud of and why?: Tricky question ! Whenever I finish something, after some time has passed I can almost always see a way to have made it better. I think most creative people would agree with that ?
Have you had any exhibitions - if so, where? Do you have any planned in the future?: I've recently joined King Street Gallery co-operative in Carmarthen, and I'm enjoying the stimulation and interaction with artists from different mediums.
Please give a brief description of one or two of the projects you've worked on recently.: At the moment I'm researching the possibilities of metal and glass, and learning how to weld.
What are your views on the current arts scene nationally and in South Wales?:
