  • Have a look at Diana's Slideshow

  • What's your name?: Diana Davey
  • Where are you from originally and where are you now?: We moved from London to Wales in 1996, just after my son was born. My husband was raised in Wales and he thought Wales would provide a lovely childhood for our son. He was right, rural Wales is wonderful.
  • What medium / media do you work in?: Photography, graphic art. I sell my photography as canvas printings and photo poster prints.
  • How would you describe your work?
I've always been involved in artistic digital media and using my photography within digital design. I love softly blending hues and images. I love doing the photography for my work and then creating beautifully artistic digital images.
  • What are your influences and inspirations?: My photography is driven by wildlife and nature. Wales itself is an inspiration. Added to that I love underwater photography in tropical destinations. My family travelled constantly when I was a child and I've never really stopped. Anywhere undeveloped and beautifully natural will inspire me to photograph. My husband and I both have a particular love of grey herons. We have some wonderfully humorous photos, they seem to be everywhere in the world, thriving despite todays uncertain planetary conditions.
  • Which piece are you most proud of and why?: I have an amazing photo of a whale shark taken whilst we were on an underwater photography trip in the Maldives. I managed to capture another swimmer with bright yellow fins just behind the whale shark. It gives a wonderful perspective of the enormity of whale sharks, the worlds largest fish. Closer to home in Wales, I have an absolutely lovely image of a bee hovering just millimeters away from a wild marsh orchid. It's every wildlife photographers dream, capturing that perfect moment.
  • Please give a brief description of one or two of the projects you've worked on recently.: Obviously my new website. We've just returned from a photography trip to Malaysia to enhance the bird and primate images for my wildlife photography collection. We already have a lot of underwater photography and stunning sunset images but decided we needed rainforest photos for our prints to make a more complete collection. Waterfalls - eagles - jungle - who could complain at that for a business trip!
  • What are your views on the current arts scene nationally and in South Wales?: It's fascinating the way the artistic world and indeed small businesses manage to thrive in Wales. Tiny cottage industries scattered everywhere about the hills and valleys. Its truly wonderful that with the aid of todays digital technology we can all live in a magical inspirational environment and still earn a living. You can't help but feel fortunate even when there are worldwide economic issues that make small businesses that little bit harder to sustain. I hope that my future allows me to continue reside within such a lovely environment.
