Aled Thomas

Last updated: 17 April 2007

  • What's your name?: Aled Thomas
  • Where are you from originally and where are you now?: I am St Clears born and bred.
  • What medium / media do you work in?: Photography.
  • How would you describe your work?
As the visual equivalent of a night on the tiles.
  • What are your influences and inspirations?: The beauty of being alive.
  • Which piece are you most proud of and why?: Currently it would be the portraits I have done using a fluorescent strip light powered by a 12 volt battery for a light source. Started off as a nebulus idea and evolved into something rather good.
  • Have you had any exhibitions - if so, where? Do you have any planned in the future?: Nothing planned at time of going to press.
  • Please give a brief description of one or two of the projects you've worked on recently.: I have been driving around West Wales a lot on the hunt for standing stones and burial chambers. I am completely enamored by them and I'm not sure as to how this obsession started. But I have been getting some good photos, so I guess I should keep it up.
  • What are your views on the current arts scene nationally and in South Wales?: South West Wales is a hot bed of creativity if you ask me. There's a lot of good stuff that comes out of this area in all kinds of medium.
