These forts on the outskirts of St David's are typical of a number of similar sites along Pembrokeshire's coastline. Taking advantage of natural promontories by digging ditches and constructing banks across the neck of the promontories, the fort builders created impressive and easily defended locations.
The two forts at Caerau are linked together by a bank and ditch, suggesting they were probably occupied together at some point.
See if you can spot the original entrance on the south-west, where the bank turns in towards the interior.
A coastal footpath leads you through the site.
