The Archaeology and History Society (Ammanford and District) was formed in May 2006. The aims and objectives of the society are as follows:
To raise the awareness of the people of Ammanford and the neighbouring district and elsewhere of the need to record, publish and preserve the history and archaeology of the area.
To hold monthly meetings where papers can be read out and lectures delivered.
To invite recognised authorities in their fields of study to address the society.
To organise field trips to sites of archaeological and historical interest.
To keep an archive of papers and other material presented to the society for deposition in local libraries.
To design and maintain a website in order to promote the society's objectives.
We meet at 7pm on the third Monday of each month in Ammanford. Details of our forthcoming meetings and events can be found on our website - www.ammanfordtown.org.uk
The 'Meetings and Events' page of the website will provide dates of forthcoming meetings and field visits. As an extra resource for members and non-members alike, the website hopes to include copies of historical papers presented to the Society at its monthly meetings. To see these, click on the 'Newsletters' button in the menu.

We currently have over a hundred members. Come along - all welcome, young and old.
