There are few genuinely high mountain ranges in the UK, and it is atop these peaks and plateaus that we can find wildlife at its most natural, where the influence of man on the environment can be least apparent. The striking Preseli Mountains, containing the Pantmaenog Forest, are home to several species that are often only found at such altitudes.
It is from Preseli that the famous Blue Stones used to create Stonehenge, some 140 miles away over the Bristol Channel, were taken. Find out more about mountain habitat and which species live in them at the Wild Britain website by clicking here.
