Famous For: Designed the hugely successful Stepney Spare Motor Wheel.
Biography: Walter Davies designed the Stepney Spare Motor Wheel - production was started on it in 1904. The wheel consisted of a rim with an inflated tyre, which could be temporarily attached to a punctured car wheel. The name followed from the marker's location, Stepney Street in Llanelli. It was a huge success. These wheels were exported all over the world and a factory was established to produce 2000 wheels a month.
