Tell us about it
Neath Archers are a group of people who practice the sport of archery. The club has been in existance for some 30 years and at present there are 50 members who meet on a weekly basis. Initially my son Aled joined the group; I spent two weeks watching him practice and I then decided to give it a go myself. Neath Archers practice Target Archery - this involves shooting at target faces.
How long have you done it?
Eight months.
What do you enjoy most?
I've always been interested in sport and I use to be involved in running, squash and rugby. Now I can enjoy a competative sport without the physical contact.
Who would enjoy it?
Someone who enjoys sport but who is looking for something a little bit unusual. No matter what level you are at there is always something to work towards and to refine your skills. You don't have to be young and fit to take part in it - it's open to anyone. You can be a wheelchair user or you can be partially sighted.
Other points
Children from the age of nine can join the group - but parents must sign a parental consent form. They must also accompany their child at all times - they are reponsible for their child's behaviour.
