Martyn Harris in Cardiff wants a key sports facility:

"Our town needs a swimming pool because every one misses the Empire."

Kelly Norris from Pontypool likes Cardiff but doesn't think it's in the big league:

"Cardiff provides everything that any top city boasts, from fantastic shopping to a fabulous nightlife. However, I believe that there is still a certain distance which must be covered before Cardiff can proclaim itself to be in the same ranks of cities such as London and Paris. Cardiff is simply not well advertised enough for it to be any kind of tourist destination, as other European cities are. Cardiff has all the requirements but lacks the supporting publicity."

Phil in Cardiff thinks the canals could attract visitors:

"The city planners need to look at reclaiming some small stretches of canal. With cafes and bars and walks around the back of castle, Cardiff will feel far more welcoming. Maybe the rear of Greyfriars needs cleaning up too - the canal there is in a bad state. We're going on the right direction, but as Ceri says in the previous post, a lot of money has been thrown at attractions and events and not enough towards civic amenities and cleaning. The place is stinking sometimes. Civic pride is gone."

Ceri in Cardiff says the city could be cleaner:

"Cardiff needs to do much more to tackle its serious litter problem. Riverside, for example, suffers as a result of the bin bags that are left in heaps at the end of the streets throughout the week. Riverside is only a few blocks away from the Millennium Stadium, and is often a thoroughfare for tourists and visitors. To make this a genuinely appealing capital city, Cardiff needs to address this issue and make more of an effort to extend recycling provision to all areas of Cardiff."

Jason Kilby in Brithdir recommends the BBC Coast guided walk around Cardiff Bay:

"Completed this walk today. It was absolutely fantastic. The links on the mobile really gave a better insight into the area and I would recommend it to anyone. Very flat and easy."

Mike urges people to look beyond the new developments:

"Everyone who mentions Cardiff talks about the Millennium Stadium and The Bay. I have lived in Cardiff all my life and feel these developments, money-spinning as they are, have contributed to the gradual eroding of the spirit of Cardiff. Can people please remember there are some wonderful sights in Cardiff and some other areas rich in history and are well-worth remembering."
