Thelma from Shrewsbury wants some information about Canton in Cardiff:

Can anyone tell me when the houses in Leckwith Place, Canton were built and when Kitchener Rd School was built?

Sue Westacott from Newport has a question:

There seems to be an awful lot of squirrels in the city. I live within the city and I have squirrels in my garden. I've never have had before, so does my daughter and when I drive they are all about. Can anyone tell me why? Have you got squirrels in your neighborhood? Has something changed in our environment to cause them to come into our gardens in search of food?

Jean Moyse in Winnipeg, Canada, wants a reminder of home:

"A street in Newport was named Henson after my grandfather. I would like to know where and a picture of it please. Thank you. I always look forward to reading all these interesting things about South East Wales."

Mary Sue Standifer in Lindale, Texas, wants to know if blacking up is a Welsh tradition:

"My grandpa Sam Wynn had a tradition of blacking our faces and place us under the bed on our birthdays. Is that a Welsh tradition?"

Patricia from Barry has a question:

"I just wondered why we can't walk from the cardiff bay barrage to, say the norwegian church or cardiff bay?"

Karen Hodgetts in Cardiff wants some photos to jog her childhood memories:

"I am very interested to know whether any of your readers have any old photographs of Lower Splott. I was born in Smith Street, off Portmanmoor Road in 1960 in my grandparents' house.

"I have fond memories of my childhood in this area and was wondering whether anyone could email me old photos of maybe, Smith Street, Greenhill Street, Robinson Square or even the old steelworks, I would be very grateful."

Kate in Sully near Penarth wants to know more about a famous local pub:

"I'm trying to find out the story behind the Captain's Wife pub in Sully and would appreciate any historical information anyone has on it."

Simon Medalia in Israel has the answer:

"The main building of the Captain's Wife Pub was originally a row of fishermens' cottages facing the sea wall overlooking the causeway to Sully Island. In the early 1980s Mr Stan Jenkins, with the help of his sons, turned the cottages into a beautiful pub.

"The wonderful wooden floors were made from the decking of WWII warships that were being broken up in Cardiff docks. There was/is a cobbled courtyard and a well behind the building and stables were turned into an exquisite restaurant.

"There were stories of ghosts, haunted buildings, secret underground caverns and tunnels from the courtyard to Sully Island - used by smugglers years ago. The story is that a sea captain secretly took his wife onboard his ship. She died and he had to get her off the ship without the superstitious sailors knowing about it. Supposedly she was brought ashore at Swanbridge.

"The pub was a wonderful place. It was extremely popular and people travelled from far to visit. In the 1990s the pub changed hands and as time passed it lost its soul and charm. For the many who cherished 'the Wife' in the 'good old days', the pub's demise is truly sad."

Katy in Newport wants to know about choir competitions:

"Is there anyone that could possibly help me in letting me know if there are any competitions held in south Wales for school choirs? Or any type of competition for a mixed choir? Thank you!!"

"For some time now I have been looking for the film of the last train from Abergavenny to Merthyr in 1958 but keep hitting a brick wall. Maybe you can help - I was only five when I heard the whistle blowing at Nanty-bwch station, too young to run to see it. Can you help me? And a photo of the chimney falling at Tredegar brickyard 1971."
