Wrestling
Owain Couch brings us up to date on moves to promote the sport in south east Wales.
A lot has happened to Celtic Wrestling since its inception in October 2005.
The company was billed as an alternative wrestling promotion for the fans in South Wales. C/W also promised to bring in top UK and Irish talent, as well as international wrestlers, and they have done just that.
Wrestlers such as Jay Phoenix, Jonny Storm, Sheamus O'Shaunessy and Spud have all debuted for this Welsh promotion. Even Steve Corino, (former ECW worker), Tracy Smothers and Joe E Legend who both once worked for WWE have been brought in to work with the roster of C/W.
Local talent has also been trained by the C/W owner, Karl Griffiths, and eventually put onto shows.
Innovations were introduced, such as performing Rock 'n' Wrestling shows and an Interactive Title whereby fans on the C/W forums can vote for the match stipulation and the champion's opponent.
Video clips showcasing their C/W series entitled Chaos are also only available from their website. Merchandise such as DVDs of past events and a C/W T-Shirt can also be purchased online or by attending any upcoming show.
Celtic Wrestling intend to regularly perform at their Merthyr Tydfil base at the Studio Bar, as well bringing their shows to The Arena in Abertillery, and other venues in the South Wales area, including Cardiff. C/W will also continue to bring in top wrestling talent.
For further information regarding Celtic Wrestling you can check out their website at www.celticwrestling.co.uk*.
The site lists all the upcoming events, pictures and results from every past show, history of each C/W title, media, merchandise, articles and interviews. Fans can also view the roster and staff behind C/W, and chat with other fans through the C/W forums.
Show your support for Welsh wrestling and get behind C/W!
