Weds 11 October - Jack Straw and the veil

" Jack Straw makes a rather pathetic comment in a local rag to the effect that he feels it a matter of some note that Muslim women appearing before him at his 'surgery' would do him a favour, (more or less considering the tone of his request), if they lowered their full face covering veil, so that he, in the company of a 'chaperone' can see their uncovered face, thereby aiding him to sense more fully their concerns when he is talking to them.

"So far, all well and good, I cannot for the life of me see that he has made other than a basically simple request to a few of his constituents, who feel they are within their civil rights to 'cover up'.

"In response what do we get? A massive attack on him from the press, the Muslims themselves, and a very few British and other people castigating him for making 'racist' statements.

"Plus of course renegades such as John Prescott, is he already in the sights of the Islamic leadership for his very public sexual liasons and is presenting an opposing view to Straw just in case these clerics come down hard on him, sometime in the future, if and when they manage to get a foothold in our seats of power? What a load of tosh.

"The very fact that there has been such a public outcry from the 'supporters' of the veil gives credence to the vast majority view that they are socially divisive, and representative of an out dated and oppressive antique desert religion.

"In all truth what other light can they be seen in a modern very, very secular nation, where less than ten percent of those questioned, by a plethorae of opinion pollsters, say that they hold some sort of religious belief, but in fact that level of belief is nothing more than tenuous to say the least.

"Today we have come over two thousand years since the commencement of the Christian church, and are just about emerging from the shadow that religion has cast over us for those twenty odd centuries, only now possibly having to suffer another religious fraternity telling us that unless we hold to their version of truth and cultural habits, laws and so on, we should expect the doom that will surely overtake us when their religious creed takes over the reign, not only here in the UK, but also the global totality.

"Ever since the dark ages, we, the majority tenants of our particular patch of earth have fought battles on behalf of and against religious zealots, megalomaniacs using religion as their mode d' emploi, against similar from across the divide of the Channel, and all in the name of what appears to be nothing more than a fictional mythological godhead.

"Just as we are about to place those very dark ages behind us, along comes another strain of mythological belief to set us at one anothers throats all over again.

"We do not need this nonsense, and had the variety of political factions within our western nations been more than awake over the last few decades, we surely would not have been in the situation we are today, kow towing to a creed suited to the intelligence of a camel herding minority, which without a shred of doubt has no place within the borders of our secular civilistaion.

"It can quoted time out of number that the Arabic civilisation gave us a few useful and profitable achievements, that occasionally spurred on our own civilisation, but what religion has to do with that is anybody's guess.

"We are no doubt grateful for those ancient Arabic, and other Middle Eastern offerings, but why are things so warped today that we have to accept this attempt to throw us back thirteen centuries, to embrace a creed and culture that is only suited to those very regions.

"We welcome exotic persons to our state, only to have them declare that our way of life is anathematic to theirs, as many, on other logs, have clearly indicated, should they find our ways not to their liking, the exit door is open, we do not hold people here against their will.

"All I hear from Islamic commentary is, our way is bad, their way is not only good, but also the only way. Do they really expect to do things here that our population will never accept, when it flies in the face of our centuries old, and established way. I don't think so!

"What clouds the issue as much as anything else are apologetic 'middle way' commentators, with their constant harping of, 'most of these people are good citizens and do not subscribe to the terrorist and militant way of the radical elements in their society'.

"I cannot see how that can be accepted by the majority, due to the fact the tenets of their religion demands that ONLY their religious way be the whole truth and all other points of view are heresy, with the proviso, join us or perish.

"Of course, such a dictat could not be forced on us as things stand at present, but as their numbers grow, by converting adherents of other religions, by expanding their family size thereby suffusing us in a torrent of extra adherents to the creed, sooner or later, unless restrictive procedures are enacted to curtail their expansion towards a major force in our society, we will one day wake to find we and our lifestyle have been hijhacked, and theirs will be the order of the day.

"I have no need to spell out the unacceptable clauses of Sah'ria law here, but there are many other sites that do so for your erudition. If what is wanted is that sort of abrogation of our way of life, I for one cannot subscribe, nor I suspect, can the vast majority here in the western sphere.

"The outcome can be almost predicted, the clash of the Titans is just around the corner. Simple aspects such as grumping about 'the veil' does no more than throw a smoke screen around he whole issue.

"Stealth is a very powerful weapon in the hands of religious zealots and prozelytizers, we should ignore the petty details and go for the overwhelming oncoming pressure that is already being placed on our civil leadership by this unwanted religion and its hierarchy."
