Mon 12 June - Celebrity pay packets

"The BBC has done a deal, so I hear, to pay a certain 'celebrity' presenter some £18 million for his contribution to the rubbish that emanates from the corner of my living room via the tv set.(Oh! no it doesn't)

"I just do not care one whit about this guy spouting his brand of crap, as I try not to get involved by watching him, or for that matter virtually all of the rest of the plonker wonder brats that seem to dominate our screens.

"But I certainly do care tremendously that my £126.50 per annum coupled to the £126.50 of some 143,000 license payers along with myself, is being profligated, nay squandered, in this way.

"Of one thing I am certain, there must be some halt to this wasting of the funds we provide for the running of the Corporation.

"I guess I would not be alone in calling for less of the 'celebrity' types and more of those who are just as capable but not as demanding of the financial wherewithall, to do a job that any silly sod with a degree of training in the matter could do, and probably just as well.

"Springing to mind is the very able Kate Humble, a good replacement for a certain lass whose life was cut short in a quite street where she lived, a few years ago, when some clod shot her in the head. Less of the overblown big heads and more of those who would be welcome in the living room.

"I could well accept the real life person coming to my home and joining me in a coffee and cake, but I seriously doubt that a so called 'celebrity' would even get invited in.

"Maybe I am a snob of some sort, but I prefer my acquaintances to be human beings with something to say, not some screen face who is safe behind the lens of a camera, and who has, in real terms, nothing of value to offer.

"Which brings me full circle to the amount of money involved. He nor others just ain't worth it, never were and never will be, so let's have less of it BBC, and, if they say 'well I can go off to ITV or Channels four, five, six, or sixty six', well let them go, I will not be watching them over there either."
