Thurs 16 March - Gas shortages
"So the gas barons tell us that we are likely to see a reduction of gas to industry, with all that implies.
"When we had the early 70's problems with a variety of energy matters, it was all down to the unions pressing for this that and the other, so then we had to suffer the three day weeks etc. Power cuts etc.
"Where are the unions today, now that a similar regime is in the offing? Who do we blame today for the potential 'three day weeks' that are likely to occur?
"Then again we are at the mercy of a culture that allows the managing boards of directors to skim off vast sums of, in my estimation, unearned high level salaries and bonuses, at the same time feeding overblown dividends to their shareholders, at the same time the rest of us are being fleeced by ever larger percentage increases in the costs at meter level.
"This present government, whilst substantiating some things that are causing concern amongst the poor and less well off, is nevertheless failing in its duty of care to manage the economy in a just and equitable manner. A manner that should be its first priority, and to hell with the ever increasing, and outlandish, demands of the 'market place'.
"The same goes for the housing 'market'. What a sham and false market place that is. Every pound increase that is placed on a house is someone's demand for an increase elsewhere.
"Up goes the prices, maybe gradually, but sooner or later there will be a backlash.
"As more and more of us 'greys' snuff it, more and more properties will cascade down into an unsustainable 'market', the result of which will be the failure of that very place to maintain its grossly enlarged financial debt burden.
"Never mind, just think of today and to Hades with tomorrow. In other words, the poliicy of disaster just awaiting around the corner. Nothing new I suppose."
