Sat 11 March - Education

"The 'outside' influences that wish to enter the field of education can be listed and the list can be very long indeed.

"The Mercers, a philanthropic organisation which has been in existance since the twelfth century heads such a list. They have no particular agenda to follow except the goodness of their philosophy, so it is declared.

"There are others, Microsoft for one, who also lean towards entering the funding and possibly overseeing of educational establishments.

"Unless these outfits wish to enter the field of brainwashing and indoctrination, I cannot see any reason why they cannot become part and parcel of our education regime.

"I do draw the line at those with a more defined agenda, those who profess religion and political motives for wanting to get into the game.

"There is maximum room for those whose intention is to raise the standards of education, particularly in the matter of science and technology, along with other items to be included in the curriculum, such as those with a long term benefit to the industrial and business worlds in general.

"Giving the green light to fundamentalist religious groups to enter the field could not then, justifiably, show the red light to others with an agenda not so much to the liking of people.

"Black magic, satanism, political shades and hues. No, there is only space for those who can definitely show there is a secular basis for their interest, regardless of how much cash they wish to inject.

"I mention Michael Jackson at this point, not that I infer or imply that he has committed any wrongdoing, but just to demonstrate that money cannot prevent allegations being made once certain activities are allowed, tacitly or otherwise.

"The purpose of a school is to educate, not indoctrinate - unfortunately some of those who would wish to get involved are indoctinators. They are not required to bring on our youngsters into the modern highly technological world of both industry and business.

"I cannot see that allowing a entry of those type of providers into our education system will give any sort of benefit to the children, but in reverse, it will provide those who have their religious and political agendas to follow, a ready made and well indoctrinated fodder pool for the ensured longevity of whatever group becomes involved.

"No, not acceptable at all. If you have money to throw at the schools, colleges and universities, then make sure you cannot be accused of a secretive reason for your philanthropy."
