Weird Nation

Ashley - Newport

I work in a bar in Newport called Baltica. It is sited in the Old Westgate hotel which is steeped in history, especially the Chartist uprising.

Well, me and also other collegues have witnessed very spooky happenings throughout the whole building - including noises and sightings.

We have a few photos with images on too.

Most recently, I was in the office on the third floor and I heard three very loud bangs from the room next door. Apparently a guest had hung themselves in this room when the building was used as a hotel.

Also, one morning when the cleaners were in, the dance floor lights came on for about thirty seconds, then went off. All the switches were off by the mains.

Loads of things happen in the building which are too lengthy to list.

We have had someone in the building tell us that we have about twenty active spirits, which is around the exact number of people killed during the Chartist uprising.
