She says she was too young to understand the seriousness of the situation, but still has vivid memories of life in Maesglas at the time.
One incident was seeing a big crack in the bedroom wall caused by an explosion nearby. She also recalls an American soldier giving her a vitamin tablet, which she says tasted like a sweet.
And there was the time where doctors at the Royal Gwent Hospital failed to diagnose a broken leg (pictured right) to save money on using the X-ray machine.
