Poem: Remembrance Day

Poppy By Phil Holley

Standing fast before the enemy
Taking aim they think of their country
firing when given the command
Glory will be there's this last stand
Blood filled trench young men's shattered dreams
England's where their resting place should be

Remembrance day so sad the memory
Under the darken sky they gave there lives for me
remembrance day so painful war can be
In battle at the Somme they died for their country

Guns ablaze victims fall around
Senses numb but they could hear the sound
Screams of men cut down in misery
Victory in the conflict not to be

Remembrance day so sad the memory
Beneath the poppies brave men lie in Flanders fields
Remembrance day so painful war can be
In battle at the Somme they died for their country
