I used to live and work for Reginald Ford at Began Farm (circa 67). I was married to June Morgan and we used to drink at the Star, Fox and Hounds, White Hart and the Bluebell Inn. The Bluebell always had an open mike on Sunday afternoons with entertainers such as Dave Parsons, Frankie Johnson, Lee Gordon, Georgie Johnson and a host of others. I think the landlady's name was Bunty. We would go from there to Tiger bay and drink all afternoon at the Philanderers Club where Frankie Johnson would entertain us. Next stop would be the Newbridge Inn in Rumney on the Trowbridge estate. The landlord there was Eddie Ware and he would book me and my band Jerry Chandler and the Blueshades every Sunday night. From there we were booked to play at the Sargeants Mess in Maindee Barracks where we would be until at least 2am.
