Jane Thomas from Monaco
During the war, my Mother took us from Plymouth, Devon, where I was born, and which was under bombardment, to stay with my Grandmother in Fidlas Avenue. I was sent to the Primary School at the bottom of the road, but kept running off back home at every opportunity, so consequently was never allowed to go to the (outside) toilets in case I disappeared again!

Maureen Dillon from Dublin, Ireland
I was born in Fidlas Avenue, my parents were living with a guy called "Mr. Price" who used to knock on a door when I was a toddler and pretend that baa-baa-black sheep was behind the door and would he be so kind as to give some wool!! My Dad also recalls a story where his 1960's Morris Minor Traveller would't start, so he let it run down the hill to get it started in the mornings!
