Used to catch a trolley bus from Roath Park to town then to Ely. The arms attached to the wires used to "boom" through whole top deck when they went over junctions in the overhead wires. The 1968 Council Bus timetable shows eletric buses, no pollution, every three minutes to Ely. Progress? We're going backward!

We used to catch the 1 or 9 down from Whitchurch Road when I attended Cathays High back in the 60's. The Trolleys used to belt down Crwys Road and into City Road, but had to slow down for the trollies to cross the junction wires at Albany Road, where I wanted to go. If you timed it right you could jump off if the conductor wasn't about, and save the walk back up City Road. Almost went flying a couple of times. So much for Health & Safety !!!

Takes me back about 49 years - I used to catch one of these (I think it was a number 4) from Queen Street to Cathedral Road. That's where the pleasure ended, because my dentist was in Cathedral Road!
