"A place of tranquillity threatened with demolition."

Sophie Baggott, Cardiff
I am 13, and I love walking with my friends and family along the footpath, and I really hate the people who are taking that away from us. Can't the council buy it from them or something?

I remember playing in what we called (with good reason) Adder wood at the southern edge of Llanishen reservoir. The infamous Dai Griffiths once brought an adder he had a killed home to his mother on two sticks. We used to cut a tree in Adder Wood each year from about 1956 to 1964 there, to use as a centre pole for the Guy Fawkes bonfire in the field behind Dan yr Heol. Would be a great pity to lose that whole area and the nature reserve of the reservoirs (I visited a few weeks back) to housing, especially as the footpath network and lookout over Lisvane reservoir is now so good.

I fondly remember playing at soldiers in the woodland just North of the resevoir in the 80s, It would be such a shame if greedy property developers deprived future generations of this oasis of flora and fauna. We the true residents of Cardiff do not want our once beautiful city reduced to a mass of concrete and luxury apartments. When will this theft of our heritage by outsiders cease. Save our resevoir and the nearby woodland. Please Cardiff City Council - please don't sell us out anyore.

Lizzy Harrington
Totally agree, save our reservoir! Used to go on school trips there, almost capsized and my friend tried to abandon ship - he he!

Paul Jennings
As a former Llanishen resident, Llanishen reservoir conjures up many happy childhood memories. As many of the older parts of Llanishen have disappeared or changed beyond recognition (the old cottages at the bottom of Heol Hir, the acres of scrubland and former industrial sites along Ty Glas Road and Ty Glas Avenue), we must fight to maintain the beauty, peace and tranquility of this tuck-away corner.
