There was an arcade nearby. In the 1930s there was a shop that sold canvas awnings, flags and bunting. Long ago and far away! I used to visit there.

I used to work in the Horse and Groom and used to get into the Welsh club free ... knew the doormen!! International days in there were brill, we couldn't get out from behind the bar, it was that packed!!! Caroline Street was always good for chips or a kebab after falling out of the Philharmonic on a Friday night!!!

I was a regular in the Horse & Groom up until it closed. I really do miss it. There was always a friendly bunch of regulars in there. I find all the new pubs in Cardiff somewhat impersonal by comparison....

Had many a good night holding up the bar in The Horse & Groom - it was one of the best pubs in the city. If you could get in on an international day you would have experienced Cardiff at its best.

I dunt fink they are very similar roads so I don't really get the comparison - plus that burger van aint always even down Womanby so its simple - if you wanna go grab a munch go to Caroline Street. if you wanna go Welch Clwb go Womanby coz theres nothin down there otherwise.
