Llysfaen has always been appreciated as a very pleasant area of the Glamorgan landscape for many hundreds of years - it was once farmed by my ancestors. I truly hope that Llysfaen doesn't lose sight of its Welsh identity and that this is appreciated as part of its history for the present residents and most importantly, for future generations yet to come. Llysfaen has also had close association with local Welsh aristocracy and Welsh nobility families. Who needs Hollywood when you have Llysfaen? Hwyl!

We moved to Lisvane 20 years ago when my sons were aged 1 and 3 years old. As a young mum, with no relatives in the area, Lisvane proved to be a hive of activity. We were soon attending Tree Tops Nursery, held in the scout hut, 3 times a week, as well as the mum & toddler group held at the old school. On a Tuesday we went along to 'scamblers' at St Denys Church. It was a busy time, but there were plenty of opportunities for both mum & child to socialise & make friends. We have some very happy memories of that time.

Wonderful memories of Lisvane triggered by my big brother Roger from Perth who contributed above. The house he mentions that our Dad built is now the Lisvane vicarage. Fond memories of a great farming community that still retains much of its original charm, centered around one of the best village pubs in Wales, the Griffin.

Our family moved to Lisvane in 1959 from Newport when my father built a house in Llwynypia Road. Following his death in 1991 it was sold to the church. I have fond memories of Lisvane, particularly the Griffin Inn. I left in 1971 to live in London and later Australia.

Lisvane can be thought of as 'Cardiff's Hollywood'. It is considered to be one of the most desirable and prosperous residential suburbs of Cardiff on the edge of the city. If you climb up the Graig Hill just above Lisvane you can see all of Cardiff before you as Los Angeles is from Hollywood. At night it is like looking at a twinkling tablecloth stretching out before you. It's only a matter of time before somebody puts up some giant capital letters on the Graig hillside proclaiming 'LISVANE' to the rest of Cardiff!
