Remembering Judith

Ruth Joseph

(Need help with RealPlayer?)

When I was 4, I can remember my mummy Judith being the most beautiful lady in the world.

Before a party, she's come into my room, swishing her taffeta skirts and kiss me.

She escaped the holocaust at 12 years old. Arriving with one suitcase and a cake tin.

Later, her parents and three sisters were murdered. Her terrors evolved into sickness. She developed anorexia and died at 46.

One day, my grandchildren will want to see pictures of their great-grandmother - they will be distressed.

So I've written a book and made this film to explain and remind them and everyone else of her loveliness.

Stories from the Streets of Cardiff - this film was made as part of a Digital Storytelling workshop run by BBC Wales.

Hayley Coulthard from Cardiff
Mrs Joseph is a lovely touching woman. I have never met anybody so stong and caring. I'm glad you are well Ruth.

John Gamblin, Roath Park
That is a very touching video clip Ruth. The story will of course be distressing to your grandchildren but your warmth and positive memories of a loving mother will shine through.
