I remember seeing the final of the 2005 6 Nations game from the try line, and I've never sung or yelled or screamed myself so hoarse in all my life! Proudest day to be Welsh!
Will, Wirral
Went for a stadium tour - fantastic. Watched Wales v Australia in November 2008 - great atmosphere. Went to Stade De France and Twickers in 2007 - no comparison. Location just brill. Makes you proud to be Welsh.
Sarah Arnold, Swansea
The Millennium Stadium is immense. A great atmosphere here for football or rugby. Looking forard to taking my boyfriend to the Wales v Canada game on Friday 14 November :) come on the reds.
Gareth, Cardiff
Although the stadium is amazing, and why UEFA say it doesn't meet safety standards is beyond me, since it's held a world cup final. The atmosphere definitely isn't as good as the old Cardiff Arms Park. It's almost as if people have forgotten to sing? Outsiders may think "hang on, what you on about?" but no, the singing and the banter used to be much better! I personally believe it's because rugby matches are now infested with urban chavs rather than the traditional valleys boys whom are extremely passionate. My opinion? Ban all chavs in hoodies.
R. King, Chepstow
Over the last 60 years I have seen most rugby matches played at Cardiff Arms Park Stadiums. My present debenture seat is superb, on the halfway line behind the TV cameras. But a number of times my view is spoiled by people going to bars etc at crucial times of play. I hope the BBC never lose rights to broadcast these matches because I rush home to see the recordings of the moves I missed like many other Welsh supporters.
jack taylor, cardiff
I'm lucky enough to have gone to most of the Welsh rugby matches there over the years! It's an amazing stadium and makes you proud to be welsh! It's a shame though the north stand is smaller! The reason it's smaller is because cardiff RFC wouldn't let them knock down the old stand, so the second stand you see on that end has been there for over 100 years!

I am glad to see we were not the only frustrated concert-goers at the Bruce Springsteen show in June 2008. The entire concert was the quality of a British Rail announcement and extremely annoying, much to our great disappointment. Surely the sound engineers must have realised that some of the speakers were clearly below the seat level of the upper tiers? Such a shame as the show looked great, going off the reaction below us!
Nick Harry, Marden, Hereford
Sorry to report that the Bruce Springsteen concert in June 2008 was UTTERLY RUINED by an appalling sound system which resulted in different instruments swirling in and out of audibility, a NON EXISTENT SNARE DRUM-which is pretty crucial in rock and even for the piano solos, a saturated sound. We are still trying to ascertain whether the 40 minute delay at the start was related to this. We are long-time Springsteen fans and it was extremely frustrating because it was obvious the musicians were doing their job from the reactions of the crowd in the stadium's centre. We were at the sides of the stadium, quite high up.
Adam Whitehouse, Carmarthen
I have seen many events at the Millennium Stadium, such as Feeder, Stereophonics, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, James Brown, the Police, the 2008 Grand Slam team Wales whooping Italy 47-8, British Lions v Pumas and more besides - what a great stadium World Class Wales!
Peter O'Dea Warrington Cheshire
I will be going to the Stadium in May 2008 for the RL Millennium Magic weekend. I went last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You have a wonderful stadium and the people that run it are superb. It is in the right place, and Cardiff is great for before and after the games.
Ells from SW London
It's the best stadium in Britain, not just because it is so accessible from the city centre but it has such an aura. I went last year (only for the Saturday but will stay the whole weekend this year!) Millennium Magic is the prime event. I am converted, love football but the camaraderie between the fans in Rugby League is rare and it's a great sport make no bones about it .
Chris from Harrogate
I've been to two rugby league Challenge Cup finals at Cardiff and although neither results went our way, the stadium was amazing and I also had the luck of seeing one game with the roof open and one with it closed. Both were equally good experiences and the country of Wales should be proud to have this as their national stadium. Get yourselves down there for Millennium Magic if you can guys and girls, should be a great weekend!
Paul, Walsall
I went to the Millenium for three Rugby League Challenge Cup Finals and for the two where St Helens beat Wigan. I was on the middle tier behind the posts and what a fantastic view it was too. Miss going there now because they took the Challenge Cup back to Wembley. Must admit it was great when we went down to Cardiff with the banter loads of pubs, plenty of places to eat, just a great day out.
Peter Barry
I went with Leeds for the Championship playoff final against Watford a couple of years ago. The atmosphere in the stadium with the roof closed was electric although getting away after the game was a bit of a nightmare!
Glynis Harrison, Haverfordwest
Congratulations to John Jenkins who proposed to Pam Cowley on the half-way line of our fantastic stadium on Sunday, April 20th 2008. She said yes, of course!
John Wells, Caerphilly
One of the best stadiums in the world and yet it is so underused. Last year at one point on the calender there was 167 days left in the year and only 13 events pencilled in. Someone somewhere needs to get to grips with maximising the use of this wonderful stadium, unless they want it to become a white elephant.
Evan Jones
I went with my friends to see Wales vs Japan at the Rugby World Cup and the atmosphere was unbelievable, even though the opponents were hardly big names! The crowd was singing for the entire game, and I counted at least 7 Mexican waves. The whole feel of the place was extremely friendly, not a drop of bad blood. To my mind there is no better sporting occasion in the world than when Wales play in front of a packed out Millennium Stadium. And we were singinnnnnnnnng...
Mark Perry, Bridgnorth (Wolves fan)
Best atmosphere ever!! Mind you we did win the 2003 playoff final, beating Sheffield United three-nil. First big game I took my 11 year old son Shaun too and he got knocked off his seat when we scored the first goal. Up the Wolves!!!
Kelvin Hughes from Swansea.
Why do people go to the stadium when all they do is walk back and for to the bar closely followed by the toilet muttering 'have they scored again'.It's an occasion for a few beers, but outside the stadium please. Is the profit centre worth spoiling the game for many.It would be interesting to know who had the rights to catering / beverages.
Iain McLaren, Coventry
I was there for the opening match of the 2005 Six Nations when Wales beat England, and the atmosphere both in Cardiff city centre and the stadium was fantastic. It was a mixed crowd of English and Welsh fans with no trouble and despite the long queues to get a train out of Cardiff it was all good natured. There was even a singing contest between the Welsh and English fans (which the Welsh won).
Margaret Price, Market Harborough
I lived in Cardiff in the late 1970s and went to the Arms Park. I loved international days in Cardiff - the atmosphere was electric. Now I have seen the Millennium Stadium also - my son treated me, we saw Canada play Wales - fantastic. Former England captain Martin Johnson comes from the town I live in. They do not pride their players as much as the Welsh do. The town where he lived and played his rugby have not put a bronze statue of him. Not like the one of Gareth Edwards. How lucky you are in Wales - support your team, give them all the help you can. I'm proud to be Welsh and always will be.
Russell X, Cardiff
This stadium should have been built outside of the city centre. It cost years of friendships round the town's pubs - Cardiff city centre was knowen as the village where the boys would meet up in the Old Arcade, Bluebell etc. Now it costs £3 a pint and you don't know anybody - it's money and rich hotels now. The docks went the same way... I left. After 20 years on, the once great town and pubs, it's all cash and sod off now. Bye bye byegone age.
Damian Jones, Cardiff
A great location in a great city and not a bad seat in the house. However, the stadium has a dark, depressing feel to it at times and the place no longer commands an atmosphere for Wales football and rugby internationals. It's as if the locals have forgotten the words to the songs.
Martin Cumming, Australia
On a visit to the stadium and its shop in 2006, it was disappointing to find it staffed by New Zealand personel and not Welsh born personnel. Whilst there was no complaint against the individuals working there it was felt by our touring party that it should have been staffed by Welsh employees in Wales' premimum sport facility.
Jason Williams, London
I was lucky enough to see Wales beat Ireland in the final game of their Grand Slam year in 2005. It would have been a fantastic day if I did not then have to wait for several hours to get onto a train home due to utter chaos at Cardiff Central station. I see that there are concerns about transport during the World Cup. It is nothing short of a national disgrace and reason enough for big sporting events to not be held in Cardiff in the future.
Mike, Cardiff
I have had the pleasure of seeing Wales beat England twice at the stadium. What an atmosphere, brilliant.
Celia Webster from Cornwall
We first visited the stadium on Saturday 7 July 2007 to see Rod Stewart. Fantastic concert, fantastic venue, fantastic location. We had spent the previous day in Swansea (also fantastic) - a weekend we will never forget - can't wait to return.
Mrs Dorian Reeve
My husband & I went to the Rod Stewart Concert on 7 July 2007. Fantastic concert by Rod but what a disappointment our seating turned out to be!! We paid £65 and £8 fee per ticket for Block M7 believing we would have quite good seats only to find the stage was brought forward and we were in line with the side of the stage with a better view of the back than front of stage!! Many of us were moved by a polite and patient steward but unfortunately, moved to the very top tier towards back of arena!! Of course, Mr Big Stadium Manager could not trouble himself to put in an appearance and we were told to contact the Promoters!! A slightly impossible task at that hour!! So, who compensates us for a ruined evening?? It was a real let down. It's a case of take the money and hide!!
Danny Watson, Barnsley
I was there for the 2006 League One play off final against Swansea. Even though it was raining all day the game was fantastic. The stadium is wonderful - the roof was closed which made all the noise stay in the stadium. I was there as well to see Chelsea win the League Cup. I love the stadium - I have some great memories.
Daniel Casey, Rhondda
Why does Cardiff City need a new stadium when the Millenium Stadium is just down the road from Ninian Park? Best stadium I've been too, and a Champions League final should be played here one day.
David Taylor from Edinburgh
What a great stadium - first visit there a few months back, totally would go back. I agree with you Jim - it's bizzare the FA Cup Final and Carling Cup Final have been there but not yet UEFA.
Neal Holden from Rotherham
I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan and went to the play off final between us and Hartlepool in 2005 and thought what a fantastic stadium. Great view wherever you sit, no problem with stewards. What a great day - up the Owls!
Jim, Cardiff
Best stadium in the world - pity we will never see a Champions League final played there. Apparently it does not meet UEFA safety requirements - strange????
Keely Milburn, Doncaster
I had a great day on sunday with the Football League Trophy being the last cup final there. The whole stadium is amazing and the fact that Doncaster beat Bristol Rovers made it better.
Joel Jessup, Leamington
Yes, it's good. As it's in the city centre there are many places to park. I went to a Barcelona v Parma charity match in August 2004 and the football was great. It's a shame one end of the ground is smaller though. And everything is over-priced - but it is at all soccer grounds.
Neil Dunphy
The day before the 2007 Carling Cup final I was having dinner at the St Davids Hotel in Cardiff with my disabled nephew Jay and his mum Teresa. Jay is a great Chelsea fan and was amazed to see Jose Mourinho in the hotel foyer.
He was even more amazed when Mr Mourinho started chatting to him and asked if he was going to the match. On finding out that Jay didn’t have a ticket Mr Mourinho went upstairs and returned with two tickets and two VIP passes. As Jay said, "this is like a dream coming true". At the match we were treated to super hospitality and as you can see from the photos real fans can get on!
The whole experience gave Jay a great boost and all down to a genuinely nice guy.
Lisa and Tony, Bristol
We went to see Madonna at the Millennium Stadium in 2006, and just had to say it was a fantastic atmosphere with all the Cardiff people singing at the concert. Even Madonna had complimented the stadium - just goes to show how much it's appreciated :D
Daniel, Barnsley
BRILLIANT! The best stadium in the world brilliant atmosphere just a brill place to go!!!
UP THE ARSENAL :)
Morris Green from Ynysmaerdy
The stadium is first class - one of the best in the world. My only complaint is that drinking should not be allowed in the seated area during the game - only in the bar areas.
The interference to spectators caused by the continual stream of people going to and coming back from the bars (up and down the stairs) is more than a distraction for those spectators seated near to the aisles - it actually blocks off the view of the game, often at moments of high drama.
Huw in Reading
Been to the stadium many times for Wales internationals, The best being Wales v Australia 2005. Awesome atmosphere, superb view - can't beat the place.
Tom Christie from Doncaster
I went to see Wales versus England when we WON!!!!!! It was an amazing day - everyone singing, cheering and what was good was the Welsh and the English singing together!! And what topped it off was the scoreline - Wales 11 England 9.
Paul Norman from Canada
My son and I came back to Barry for a holiday and my long time friend Ross James managed to get us tickets to Wales v Japan in 2004. It was our first time at the stadium and my son's first live Welsh rugby match. He was amazed with the atmosphere especially the singing. Fantastic stadium, fantastic people.
Emma Davies
I have only ever been in the stadium once and that was the U2 concert and it was amazing - what an atmosphere, what a place. The smell, the echoing of the music bouncing off the sides of this beautiful stunning building. Cardiff for me iz the place to be! I loves my great growing expanding city!
Neil Matthews, Brisbane, Australia
I moved from the Rhondda to Brisbane this year and was lucky enough to get tickets for this years Tri Nations at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. I got to see Aus v All Blacks and S Africa. The atmosphere was like being at the oval in Treorchy on a cold wet November day. I will always be grateful that I have actually been part of the atmosphere in Cardiff on match day - nowhere will beat it. The stadium though could learn a thing from the Aussies - I could actually walk to the bar and get a pint whenever I wanted with minimal queing even though there were 75,000 people there.
Gareth Briggs, Rotherham
I went to the Swansea v Barnsley league 1 playoff game in May 2006. Roof was closed which led to a brilliant atmosphere inside. Being in the city centre, it's great before and after the match going in the many pubs around the stadium. Barnsley won to make it a totally unforgettable experience.
David Byrne
The concert waz brill lol. Best concert of me life - Vertigo Vertigo - thanks U2.
Michael from Bolton
Cardiff 2001, Bolton v Preston. Absolutely brill day - such a beautiful stadium. Great place, atmosphere and worth the money. Anybody thinking of going I'll just say it's a good idea to go.
Hayley, Cardiff
I have been in the stadium many times, mainly for Wales football matches, the best being Wales v Italy in 2002. I love it in there and I went to town before the 2006 FA Cup Final to sample the atmosphere outside the ground. It was great! West Ham and Liverpool fans all contributing to a brilliant atmosphere. I saw the game at home and it was a great way for the FA Cup final to bid farewell to the Millennium Stadium. It was terrible about the stolen tickets but the real people to blame, I feel, are the ones who stole them. I hope to see the great Liverpool fans back in Cardiff in August.
Michael Scott, N. Ireland
I was over for the World Cup qualifier in September 2004, what a day, what a game, what a party afterwards! Definitely the best stadium I've ever been to.
Richard Clark, Surrey
There is no better atmosphere when watching Wales play either football or rugby , best stadia in the world and so many pubs and clubs near the ground - SUPERB.
Caz from Cardiff
The Millennium Stadium is the best location possible for a sports venue... worldwide, as the city centre is pedestrianised for games the atmosphere for any game is phenomenal, with 75,000+ in town everyone gathers in pubs, bars and on the streets in friendly conversation throughout the day and night for one big party orientated around sports.
Che Armes, Norwich
I went to the division one play off final in 2002 between Norwich City and Birmingham City. Just couldn't believe the fantastic stadium and atmosphere. The result wasn't ours on the day but the whole thing will be remembered.
Enjoy it, the remaining teams fans who are going to the cup or play off finals the last time in Cardiff!
Eddie May, Liverpool
Being a Liverpool fan I have spent many happy hours in your fine stadium but that is now soured by the attitude of the stadium manager in not allocating tickets for those 1600 who were the victim of a crime.
Peter Blackburn from Liverpool
I would just like to thank the City and People of Cardiff for my previous visits when I have been to watch Liverpool play. I am lucky to have a ticket for the game on Saturday which I will be attending with my son. However this will be my last time because of the stolen ticket fiasco and the refusal to replace the stolen ones. Health and Safety is always a major concern and it is also someone's job. One week has passed since the theft. What was the contingency plan for a problem like this? Liverpool fans should our team win on Saturday are organising a boycott for the Charity Shield in August, one which I will fully support along with many thousands of fellow Liverpool fans, How much money will Cardiff miss out on come next August? The ball is in your court.
Chris Nichols, Cornwall
Saw U2 live in June 2005 - been to the stadium many times and it was easily the best. It was also my first U2 gig and hope to go to many more. The atmosphere in Cardiff after the Wales v Italy game in November was brilliant! Great stadium, thanks very much.
Sammy Shunter, Llanelli
Well done Powergen and Welsh rugby (and the referee who helped it all along with Jiffy's enthusiastic support which was so great to hear for all Welsh people) - you got what you wanted, a Welsh-English final. Shame about the 'sport' of rugby tho' - half empty stadia will never be filled until you sort out the problem of refereeing rugby.
Les Swansea
I and my son sneaked into the stadium for the Liverpool Arsenal final and got to sit next to Emlyn Hughes.
Stephen Hadley, Pontypridd.
The atmosphere of this amazing stadium brings out the wonderful nature of the Welsh people. When the Welsh fans start to roar, and sings out loud our beautiful Welsh songs. You can feel and smell, the wonderful atmosphere of the Welsh hearts, of the people of Wales. This exciting atmosphere make us Welsh people so proud of our nation. When the people of Wales start to sing out loud, (Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau). "The Whole World Can Hear Us". The city of Cardiff is buzzing with happy times. I always have a great day out in Cardiff. A great city, a great atmosphere, the people of Wales are very spoiled, with so much to do in Cardiff on the day of live sports or music events.
Gemma Griffiths fromTredegar.
I've been to the stadium on numerous occasions to watch the national team play football and to see the amazing concerts there. I absolutly love the vibe and feel of the place inside and out. Seeing Oasis and the Foo fighters on home turf was truly fantastic. Definetly one to remember.
Leon Brooks, Cardiff
When it comes to a stadium and atmosphere you can't beat ours. The whole city is bursting with pubs and clubs that will make sure that you have the best day out ever if you come to a game or concert here. Even if your team doesn't pull off the result you were hoping for. All people who come here for a major cup final ie FA Cup, Carling Cup or Powergen Cup, love it and really do enjoy the city's highlights. So why does it need to go back to Wembley where I think, if I am right, there is one pub within walking distance of the stadium.
