"I chanced upon your site by accident but I am very interested with the comment contained in it.
"My family lived in Jones Street. My brother still lives there and some of my sisters live nearby.
"I left in 1950 but well remember appearing in the Dai George productions during the war.
"We took one production to Abertysswg and yes all the proceeds went to HMS Daffodil.
"Dai George also lived in Jones St with his wife and daughter and he taught me in the 'top school'.
"Like your correspondents Les Jones and Ben Davies all the places and events are known to me.
"My grandparents lived in Fothergills Road as did my mother and father in their early married life.
"With regard to the request from Tina Lammert, the only Price I remember in Jones Street was the lady in #2 (the corner shop) who later remarried a Mr Edwards.
"I also attach a photograph of the New Tredegar Thistles soccer team of 1918 which may be of interest to some people. My father Jack is on the front row, right. The team was quite a success I understand.
"The man on the right of the top row was I believe a Mr Tuffin and he lived in the 'new houses' at Phillipstown."

"I know my mother appears in the photograph and I need it to complete my writings to my grandchildren. If anyone could help!!!
"It was a disappointment to read, in another website, Phillipstown described as one of the most deprived areas in Wales. My memories certainly do not match that description but I guess 55 years is a long time."
