"Kate Hunter, the Conservator, and her team are carefully modelling each of the timbers using technology developed by the space programme. Hopefully this will give an accurate picture of the ship's construction and it will first be assembled by using a computer model. The ship itself dates back to the 1400's when it undertook trade with Portugal - so the artefacts found along with it would suggest. Is it an important find? Well Charles Back of the Mary Rose Trust claims that it is 'more important than the Mary Rose.' Is there more to be found on the site? Kate tells me that in the 13 years she has worked for Newport Council she has been associated with the finding of 4 other boats. She quite confidently expects to hear of more important finds along the banks of the Usk."
