Familiar faces like Jamie Owen, Derek Brockway, Claire Summers and others gave up their lunch hours for about a month to rehearse with Tim Rhys-Evans, musical director of the Last Choir Standing winners.

The result was a performance of the Tom Jones classic Delilah at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay on 14 November 2008 for BBC Children in Need.

Tim Rhys-Evans said it was quite a challenge, but the news team did very well.

"Everyone learned their words - Derek Brockway tells me he practised his words while stirring his peas!

Tim Rhys-Evans "One of the most difficult things for non-choristers is trying not to sing the tune, because your part is probably different from the familiar tune and different from the person next to you," said Tim (pictured left).

"Everyone has been really good sports. Choir singing should be joy-giving and entertaining with it, and I think Only News Aloud was both those things."
