See some clips from the annual Brecon Jazz Festival - a great showcase for local talent from South East Wales.

Susie Smithwick from Cwmbran (pictured above) appeared with her band Bluesy Susie at Brecon for the first time in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

"It was fantastic - we had an absolutely amazing time," she said. "The weather was superb, the sound was great, the crowd were absolutely delightful."

Meanwhile South Wales met South Africa as Pontypridd's funky big band Wonderbrass joined forces with Amampondo, said to be Nelson Mandela's favourite group.

Wonderbrass and Amampondo at Brecon Jazz 2005Wonderbrass are regulars at the festival, and first played with Amampondo at Brecon last year as a spur-of-the-moment thing. This year the South Africans spent several weeks rehearsing and performing in south Wales in the run up to the festival.

Members of Amampondo also spent some time leading drumming workshops for children in partnership with the Valleys Kids charity.
