The fame of Jack o' Kent spread far and wide,
A mighty wizard, strong in word and deed.
Twas said that those who crossed him always died.
For even greater power did he greed,
So off he went with Lucifer to plead.
A devlish, deadly bargain was then made
His very soul to Satan he did cede;
Whether in church or out his body laid;
His soul was lost to gain the occult power he craved.
The power of Jack o' Kent was now so great,
He challenged Satans strength to put to test.
From Skirrids Mount they hurled huge blocks of slate
And Jacks three stones at Trellech came to rest.
At Kentchurch too, he showed the power possessed
And cross the Monnow caused a bridge to fall.
Determined that the Devil he would best,
In death the covenant Jack did forestall;
His body laid to rest beneath Grosmonts church wall.
