The singer visited Abercanaid Community School in January 2007 for a reunion, filmed for a BBC Wales TV special.
Many people remember Petula as a young girl spending time with her grandparents in Abercanaid near Merthyr Tydfil during the 1930s and 1940s.
She went to school in Abercanaid and Pontlottyn, and lived for a time with her aunt and uncle above Bert Rose's grocer shop in Ystrad Mynach.
