Read the transcription of Jeoff's audio clip:

"I don't think the general public realise the cost that goes in to producing food. They don't appreciate how much hard work goes in to it.

In a cattle situation there's two years or more before they're killed to go in to beef. There are an awful lot of risks in that 2 years that we've got to take the burden of really.

We've got to keep it fit and healthy and feed it well. Then the price we get at the end of it is a very small part of what the general public have got to pay. The difference between leaving us and what the public pay is too big a gap.

I think a reality has got to be reached where people must appreciate that the most important thing in life is to be able to feed yourself. This element is not really appreciated at all. Food is so easy to get at in the supermarkets and it's not appreciated at all any longer.

Other countries in the world, food is their most important thing every day they get up is where they're going to get their food from. That element in Britain particularly has been lost.

The French people who are very close neighbours - they do appreciate good food and where it comes from, and they're prepared to pay more for it.

Britain tends to get it from all over the world at the lowest cost. The appreciation of the work and the time and effort that goes in to it has been lost in this country."
