Kylie's mother Carol Jones was born in Maesteg where her family ran the local post office.
She was 12 years old when she emigrated to Australia with her mother Millie in 1955, setting in Townsville, Queensland.
Carol eventually met and married Ron Minogue, moving to Melbourne where she gave birth to daughters Kylie and Dannii and son Brendan.
Kylie is very proud of her Welsh roots and always meets up with relatives when touring the UK.
She once said she'd have been happy to have followed her family into running the post office if they hadn't emigrated.

My grandmother, Bronwyn Holder, was second cousin to Millie Jones, Kylie's Grandmother and they kept in touch by post. I met Millie at a family get together in Maesteg about 15 years ago,with Dennis and Millie. The common ancesters were Moses and Elizabeth Hughes, four generations back.
