Sheila

Fuel - photo by Margaret Lived in Bridgend: 40 years
Greatest joy: family, good health
Greatest fear: deterioration of health
Best human quality: being considerate of others

In my day when I was a young person, we were more directed. People told us what to do.

There is more choice nowadays, it's more open to the person. I think it is more difficult.

You were advised by your parents, not necessarily in a bossy way, but there was more advice, whereas things are left more to open choice nowadays.

They've got choice career-wise, choice sexuality-wise - that just was a no go area.

You don't say that everybody would abide by it, but there is more choice nowadays, it's more open to the person. When they do decide, what do they do, so really it is more difficult.

Thanks Sheila for very good points about choices and how they affected your generation. Are more choices neccessarily a good thing? Maybe less choice is a simpler way to live.
