Matthew Harris and "More than this". This guy is excellent. Amazing live, he puts on a real show and his songs are awesome. There's a lot of talent in Wales but he's the best, and he's a GARN BOY!!!!
Jonah Newton, Caerphilly
What a fantastic wealth of musical talent South Wales produces. Back in Summer 1990, I played guitar with some friends, and we called ourselves 'Serenade'. When I returned home from Bristol a couple of years later, they had evolved into The Sceptics, and along with PG & The Tips, The Superunknown, formed a core collection of bands that brought the local (Caerphilly-Cardff) music scene forward. And let's also not forget the strength of the church-choir scene that still exists. There is certainly something in the South Wales heritage that allows new sounds and people to be absorbed into the continuing development of Welsh music culture.

Reply to Lawrence from Pontypridd: The Clound minders have recently bumped into each other, after a long contactless split, and are considering getting back together, to try new material and raise some of the old, I can confirm this , as I am their drummer, and recently spoke to both guitarists, and came to the conclusion its time to see if we still have it.
Lliss from Trimsaran

Steph Conway from Conwy
Lostprophets have saved my life to do an important piece of coursework for my first year in 6th form! Loved you in Manchester last year, guys. Also, I've loved Feeder ever since they've started, and their new album has grown on me! Obviously we have not-so-good musicians, not naming any names, Charlotte Church. As for the Manics, what can I say! They're legendary.
Gavin from The Rhondda
The Welsh music scene is buzzing with a vibrancy that echoes across the globe. Yet this is nothing new for the valleys and towns of South East wales.
For before the new age bands began to beat a rythum across our pasture and our park land.
The mountains echoed with proud hymns of days long gone by. Where the male voice choir and brass band, bathed the black with lullabys.
Jones From Bridgend
Waste and the World. Enough Said.

George from Caerphilly
Will Young rocks...and apparently his grandmother is Welsh - hence the relevance to this site. Welsh music really is the best!(Editor's Note: Does anyone have any evidence of Will Young's Welsh roots?)
G & S from Cardiff
We think that High Contrast is the best D&B DJ to come out of Wales so far.
Marcus from Barry
Everyone's forgetting the unsung Welsh hero, Sasha. One of the best DJ/Producers of all time. (Editor's Note: Sasha comes from Bangor - see his Hall of Fame profile on the BBC North West Wales website)

My boyfriend is mad on the group GLC. He thinks there awesome. I find them a little funny but aint really my taste. I Mean who wants to hear about Chicken Tikka Masala, Chips and Rice... I mean come on!!!!
Charlie from Birmingham
Kelly was born to make music plus the fact he's drop dead gorgeous and Richard's really talented too. They need to keep going, otherwise music won't be worth listening to!
Paul H from Pontypridd
Manic Street Preachers - simply the most diverse band ever to come out of Wales in my opinion. With epic anthems like 'Design For Life' and the punky 'You Love Us' along with the hype around 'Cool Cymru' in the 90s - the boys from Blackwood were a breath a fresh air for the British music industry.
John Sweet from Crumlin
The Broadcasters - best live rockabilly band in Wales.
Tove from Stockholm, Sweden
I said it before and I say it again, LOST PROPHETS. I met them after the show in Stockholm (February 27 2004). They were really, really nice and I finally got their autographs! I also met Funeral for a Friend, and they were also super nice! It seems like all good comes from South Wales.
GP from Stockholm
Funeral For A Friend are damn good!!! Saw them for the first time @ Klubben february 27 and they kicked ass! On top of that they were really nice to their fans.
Meg from the stix
Lunar Tool - wot a top act!!
Ryan J from Beddau
I think Stuart Cable is really cool. He is the greatest person ever from wales.
Steve from Shropshire
I saw a band from South Wales called, The Subterraneans the other week in the Buffalo Inn, Clun. They're the best band we've had up this way for a long time - really unique sound. If you can read this guys, I hope you come back soon.
Barry from Ponty
Figure of 8 - they have an energy to the music that could light the Valleys up for years!
Dave Varney from Cardiff
Figure of 8 - they're a great rock band doing the rounds right now. They're kind of Heavy R'n'B (Led Zep/Who/QOTSA) and definitely seem destined for success!
Davey James from Caerphilly
GLC - I can only say how impressed I was. What a talent these men have. Better than Eminem? You knows it!!
Jeff Stoll in Canton, Ohio, USA
Steve Andrews, the Bard of Ely - best singer to come out of Wales since Tom Jones plus he's a great poet and songwriter.
Doug Udell in Kalamazoo, USA
The Bard of Ely - it doesn't get any better than him.
Lisa in London
The Bard of Ely - a wonderful and highly original singer/songwriter.
Cathy in Beijing, China

David Leyshon from Pontypridd
Tom Jones is the greatest entertainer of all time. He comes from near me and I love him.
David Dyer from Tonteg
Wishing Hour are truly amazing. The guitarist is really good.
Robbie from Tonteg
Super Furry Animals - I saw them recently and I loved them. 'Juxtaposed With You' is the best song I ever heard. They are great.
David Thomas
Funeral For A Friend - greatest band in South Wales. Will beat any other band in the country.
Mike Cloke from Merthyr
GLC: they are class - I loves them.
Lawrence Turner from Pontypridd
The Cloud Minders, Newport's answer to Teenage Fanclub - whatever happened to them?
Angharad Pooley from Newport
Lunar Tool - they're a bunch of funky monkeys. Proper Bo!
Laura from Oxfordshire
Lostprophets are by far the best Welsh band - their music is just amazing and they're such nice lads too - they deserve it.
Louisa Aitchison from North Ayreshire
Stereophonics are the best band ever - they keep me going and they will keep going from strength to strength - with or without Stuart Cable. Kelly's songwriting gets better every time!!!
Marissa from Connecticut, USA
Lostprophets all the way! Met them and got their autographs. Very nice band and very nice music!
Rebecca from Cardiff
Cardiff Engine Rooms - really good atmosphere, nice staff, and excellent music!
Lauren
Manic Street Preachers - they've filled my life with wonderful lyrics and music. Nicky Wire, Richey Edwards, James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore are the most amazing people ever.
Ashley in Texas
The Manics have changed my life and saved my life and I owe so much to them. I love them so much. They make music that is beyond any genre, anybody could relate to one of their songs, Nicky Wire is so brilliant. They really are a brilliant band and I love them with all of my heart.
Joey from Cardiff
Manic Street Preachers - their material reflects all aspects our lives - happiness, sadness, love, hate, hope, war and peace; the list goes on. Despite the unfortunate loss of the missing Richey James, they still do what they do best, and to me that is creating fantastic music which also makes you think about things both Welsh and non-Welsh. I cry out to you all, listen to 'The Holy Bible' - Sheer class!
Amy Williams
Solar Boat have built up a huge following during their time together, and although they are yet to be signed, it really is just a matter of time. They are absolutely fantastic, a rock sound that you just can't put your finger on - truly a style of their own. If you get a chance to see them - don't miss it!
Frank from Essex
Transposer - the next big thing out of Cardiff!
Lindy and Tove from Stockholm
Lostprophets - the coolest band ever!!! Last year we went to their gig in Stockholm and it was awesome! They seem to be a bunch of nice guys. Before the concert Tove stood just a few steps away from Ian Watkins, but she didn't dare to ask him to sign her ticket. She still blames herself for being such a coward. Poor girl! Our dream is to visit Wales and see the hometown of the greatest band ever.
Matthew Collett from Birmingham
Lunar Tool - the kings of Welsh Funk. Alright!!!!!!
Klaus Bracklow from Grevenbroich
Tom Jones - he is the best!
Adam Hall from Bridgend
Catatonia - has to be. They were completely original and powerful. Long live their spirit.
Katrina Reeve from Surrey
Stereophonics - a great band from a great country.
Rob Trigg from Brighton
The Super Furry Animals rock the Welsh pride everytime.
Lou Griffiths from Llanharry
Nothing can beat the feel of the hair on the back of your neck standing on end on hearing the Welsh national anthem sung at our home ground - pure magic!!!!!!!!
Des Williams from Rhondda
Everything from the pretentious offerings at the Pop Factory in Porth, through the choirs - the Dick Williams Singers and the Pendyrus Choir are my favourites. Such a range of offerings for Britain and the world, and all within easy reach.
Hannah Hathaway from St Athan
Stereophonics - they're amazing and they just get better. Their version of Handbags and Gladrags was fab. Keep it up guys!
Anthony Davies from Mountain Ash
Welsh Male Voice Choirs - a group of men who sing for the love of song and the glory of their Welsh culture.
Diana Wynne from Blackwood
The Markham brass band - my grandfather was a founder and my brother is now in the percussion session. They are a symbol of hope for the area which was once a thriving mining community, and where the arts and music now play a vital role in keeping people's spirits up.
Kelvyn Owen from Kalgoorlie, Australia
Before coming to Oz, I enjoyed many happy hours and bus trips with the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir. It was great. Thanks fellas.
Tania Jones from Gwent
Stereophonics - they have come a long way and always sound wicked. Keep up the good work guys!
Claire Barnsley
The brass band movement - it's bang up to date with new works being written and a modernistic stance being taken....it knows no bounds and has no age limit for enjoyment.
