If I were an AM for the day, I would give money to Cowbridge Comprehensive School so they could do up the Year 12 common room.

There's paint coming off, there's old sockets hanging out the wall, and there are holes in the walls.

It's a complete mess. Recently they've put a cupboard in the corner which has no purpose for us. They've put a box on the top which is falling off all the time with old books in and stuff.

They've just introduced these general waste bins which fall over all the time and all the recycling stuff falls out. The other bins are absolutely tiny and they're filled with gum.

There's chairs falling apart - they've just been ripped apart. They're just really old, ugly chairs and the floor's mingin as well with stuff stuck to it.

There's paint coming off the walls. There's old sockets hanging out the wall, and there are holes in the walls. It's really small for the whole year.

First of all I'd like to make it bigger, and then I'd like to paint it a nice colour, remove the dodgy sockets, and I'd like to put sofas in there.

You know Holly Oaks on the TV - they're common room's amazing. They've got TVs and stuff.

It's our thing now we're in Year 12. The rest of the school doesn't bother me. The classrooms are going to be a mess anyway because we haven't got the funding, but it's just our little area to be.

They keep going on and on about how it's such a mess, but it's not really our fault.

Stop whining ... do something for yourselves. Raise some money & spend it on the common room as sixth formers have been doing since time immemorial! Several points - if the bins are full empty them, simple. The floors are 'minging' why? Because I'd hazard a guess that you've dropped things and not bothered picking them up. If the electric sockets are defective inform your headmaster, there are health and safety regulations to cover that.

Same here. The cleaners went on strike and closed the Common Room for the day becuase of all the litter, even though there's bins everywhere. I hadn't got anywhere to go for lunch at all. It's also really small: if you go for lunch at official lunch time, every single table is taken. I can not physically stand up and eat like the others, so I have to wait ages for a table, and then they shut shop. Disgraceful.

It was like that when I was in sixth form over 10 years ago. I can never see that it will change.

I have to say that there is some work to be done in that common room. How is anyone going to get any work done if they can not get any decent seating, tables and also work stations (e.g. computers). Sofas would be a nice complement in their common room as long as they do not get trashed like the seats.
