Football crazy

Lawrence

Last updated: 05 April 2007

Listen to Lawrence

(Need help?)

If I were an AM for the day, I'd build more sporting facilities to keep people off the streets.

We need a football field run by people to bring people together - not just a field but a system.

Barry does have the facilities but they're not free, and it doesn't really bring them together as a club.

There's the Astroturf, but you have to pay a lot of money and there's not often spaces. There's parks, but people are afraid of getting mugged.

We need a football field run by people to bring people together - not just a field but a system.

I saw a programme on Football Focus, and it showed how in London there were lots of murders and stuff at the time.

They built an Astroturf pitch and allowed people to play in the summer holidays to keep people off the streets.

I think in Barry there's a lot of people doing nothing on the street. If you built one and set it up and had the right people organising it, I think it would be good.

Lawrence is right, sadly politicians don't want to listen though. Anything that helps people doesn't seem to interest them. Not only would it get kids off the street and engage them mentally, but it would surely be good exercise for them and a start to solving our increasing obesity problems!!
