Andre Van Wyk, Arts Development Officer for Bridgend County Borough Council, explains how advances in digital technology helped to make 'The Froggy'.
- (Need help playing the film?)
Digital technology has become so user friendly over the last few years and has been embraced by popular youth culture. It played a big role in releasing and channelling the creativity of the young people in making 'The Froggy'.
Digital still cameras were used to take photos of the Frog Wood Pond area. These were used to create the background to the animation.
The characters were created by using a digital video camera to film each other acting out the scenes. Certain poignant frames were then captured from these sequences and used to trace in Photoshop in order to create the illustrations.
Sound effects were created by recording real woodland sounds on to mini disk. These sounds were then added in to emphasise the story line.
Computer music software such as Sonar was used to create the music for the sound track creating the right moods needed for each scene.
Lastly and most importantly it was all edited together by using...you guessed it ...a computer.
