When Rose entered the lift, she was actually at
Howell's department store, in the heart of Cardiff. When she got out of the lift, she was at the basement of the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, two miles away!
However, their lift and basement still required a touch of BBC magic to suit Doctor Who's purposes, though.
