Saw Doctor Who being flimed in February 2009 on Victoria street in Newport. David Tennant walked straight past us and said hi. I got his autograph and walked through the set. Lucky me!
Cheeky Charlie from Swansea
I saw Doctor Who who being filmed at Margam Park when I was staying there for a week. They were filming series 5 episode 1, 2 & 3! David Tennant walked right next to me and I saw how they filmed a car scene. There was a slight problem though - 5 goats walked across the track where they were filming! It took me and my friends about 20 mins to move the goats off the track!
Sharon, Cardiff
I saw David Tennant and Don Gilet in a smartcar when they were filming the Christmas special - it was later cut! Also spent a freezing extended dinner hour trying to get Billie Piper or Cathrine Tate's autograph for my daughter whilst they were filming the episode where Donna gets run over. Got some photos of them both though.
David, Cardiff
Saw Journeys End (Rose and second Doctor go off into parallel world) in Southerndown beaches.
caerphilly
Walking home from work experince saw where they were filming a bit from that really good last episode down Morgan Jones park.:)which is weird because its not exactly what you expect to be seeing after a day working with a bunch of hyper active childreen really. mmm david tenant. golly ;)
Luke from Plymouth
Whilst staying outside Newport at Tredegar House I saw the Doctor filming the 2008 Christmas special- they covered the stable in fake snow!
Lilly, Cardiff
I was walking with my friend to a late night movie when she said she saw a camera behind us she shouted sorry then we both went down an allyway to get out of the way I was walking backwards so I could see what they were filming. We couldn't see anything so we turned round and little did I know that right behind me was a cyberman. I pushed him over i felt so sorry for the man inside. Me and my friend helped him up and then said sorry to him and went over to the crew and apoligized to them as well. We decided to skip the movie and just go home, so we walked up to my flat. I will never forget almost knocking out a cyberman.
Liz, Newport
We watched the Christmas special being filmed in Newport we saw the cybermen - how exciting!!!
Lynfa from Church Village
Dr. Who has recently been filming in Tonteg. Both Dr. Who and Torchwood are based at Upper Boat. Both fantastic programmes. Carry on the good work.
Liz Westley
We have just been up tp the Cemetry on Stow hill and they are filming today and possibly tomorrow! We couldn't see much but it is based around a victorian funeral with a lady in a big red dress and lot's of snow!
Diane Bloom, Cardiff
Have seen them filming Doctor Who in Cyncoed, in November last year. Catherine Tate, David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins were there, filming the new series, which was cool. David came to chat to people watching - he was lovely, so tall! They filmed in Tracy's house. She told me when they filmed recently, a few weeks ago, her daughter got to say good night to The Doctor! Didn't get any autographs, but my friends' two boys did! David signed their Doctor Who annual!
Sara - Tonteg
They were filming the storm scene two streets away from where I live - saw Billie Piper as well!
Heather Irvine, Penarth
They were filming Doctor Who in Penarth outside my house. It was great fun, but I think that David Tennant needs a good meal, he is soooo tiny.
Sharon Squires, Cardiff now living in Scotland
I was watching old tapes of Doctor Who featuring Christopher Eccleston the other week and was absolutly stunned to see my old flat from when I lived in Cardiff. I called my son down who is a huge Doctor Who fan. I told him that was the flat he was born in. He didn't believe me until I showed him a photo of it. He was so proud. I know Cardiff very well and it's fantastic to see and recgonise different locations I know so well.
BabbitCymru from Caerphilly
Have seen loads of shoots for Doctor Who/Torchwood, around my office in the Bay... We were even invaded by Cybermen and people under the influence of the Sycorax - but sadly, that was before I joined the company! :-(
Jo
I saw them filming in Nant Fawr Road, Cyncoed. I saw Catherine Tate under an umbrella being held by one of the crew.
Ju
They were filming in the Psychology tower building in Park Place, Cardiff, for a few days - I saw a Dalek. I'm pretty sure they were filming near Hamadryad Park in the Bay too.
Kim Ellis , Peterston
Myself and friend Karen Davies were working in Cardiff Royal Infirmary when they were filming the episode from the 50s. We went out through the fire exit and found we were looking right at David Tennant rehersing his lines. We waved and he smiled and waved back as we took a photo with our mobiles. Then Karen got so excited to show off her photo she turned to run away and slipped and fell in the disgusting mud in her lovely white nurses uniform! She'll never live it down as we keep reminding her about the time she flashed at David.
Tim Harris of Cwmbran
There is a TV crew filming something at the old Parke Davis factory near Pontypool. Not sure what it is though trying desperately to find out if it is Dr Who. Can anyone help?
Wendy Phillips, Pontypool
I saw a double decker bus in St Mary Street with a London destination on the front late one night after I'd been to a concert in Cardiff. There were lots of cameramen about so my boyfriend asked what was going on and was told they were filming Doctor Who.
Darcey from Hampshire
I was visiting Margam Park and saw Doctor Who being filmed. I was really lucky to be able to meet one of the monsters while he was getting ready. He thought my name was Daisy because the mask he was wearing made him Deaf! My dad saw David Tennant being swamped by children! Mr Tennant was being really nice. Then the barriers went up, and the areas taped off so we couldn't get to see anything else as they were all really busy.
Jake from Cardiff
I once saw the TARDIS when I was in the car a blue light was glowing and a camera was there!
Grace, Bridgend
When I was going to the Millennium Stadium for a tour with my friend we saw a Dalek roaming the streets of Cardiff.
Becky Hatch, Liverpool
We went on a day trip to Cardiff and ended up at a manor house where we saw some filming for a future episode. Won't repeat what happened but it sounded like it's going to be a fun watch! David and Catherine were lovely - as we where the only visitors there they stayed and chatted after finishing even though it was very late and very cold.
June
The BBC notified me and my neighbours that Doctor Who would be filming a 'high speed car chase' in my street in Penarth. We were advised to move our cars for the day. That was no problem as I would be at work all day, however it also meant I missed the filming! My neighbour watched though and said she saw David and Freema. I watched all the episodes of the last series just to see the scene and it came up in the last lot of episodes. Blink and you missed it, but my front door was there!!
June
Washing lines (with washing) appeared on some of the balconies of the empty and derelict 'Billbanks' flats in Penarth in summer 2006. They were there so long I though squatters had moved in. I live nearby and was on the verge of telephoning the local council to complain when my neighbour explained they had been filming Doctor Who!!!
Lisa Smith
I watched them filming for 7 hours in Llansannor. Not going to give any spoliers but it's going to be a great episode! At the end David and Catherine came over and chatted to me and my friends for 10 minutes. The pair of them were really lovely.
Andrew Griffiths
I have seen the recent Doctor Who being filmed in Cardiff outside Owain Glyndwr pub and Burger King for the 2007 Christmas special with singer Kylie Minogue and it looks great. But do look out for other familar faces in the Christmas episode.
Louise Brock from Swansea
Saw David and Kylie and Freema at the Exchange Building in Swansea on 28th July 2007 filming the Christmas special. Security guards lied saying they were using doubles and did not know when they would return. We were the only ones waiting and David came out of a BMW and signed an autograph and spoke with my two sons - very kind.
Eliott Sheppard from Gloucestershire
I saw David and Billie by Clearwell Caves up in the woods.
Gary Price
I saw the filming of The Green Death with Jon Pertwee at Brynmawr in 1973. I have a photo of me sitting in his car Bessie. They were filming just outside the school and drove a milk float through a road barrier. I think most of the upper school were sitting on the bank watching.
Siobhan and Laura, Cwmbran
Filming has been taking place next to our warehouse in Mamhilad, Pontypool. We keep trying to take a peek but they're very secretive. How exciting!!!
Michael Nicholas from Newport
I noticed a Dalek out my window and I then saw a camera filming it!! Cool!!
Chris from Newport
A Cyberman approached me in Llandaff Fields and it appearded in the out-takes in last Xmas's Dr Who DVD. (My 15 seconds of fame)
Caitlin Evans, Newport
I was on a day trip to Cardiff Bay a few days ago and I saw the Tardis being filmed on the back of a lowloader.
Paul Mohamed from Cardiff
It was interesting to see the trailers where the actors were resting between takes in Cathays ... and even more amazing to discover when I opened my own Doctor Who shop here in Jacobs Antique Centre, Love and War was filmed in the basement and I got to hold the original mask Peter Kay wore!
Claire Oliver from the Rhondda
My husband and I saw them filming in Cardiff Bay outside the assembly building back in February this year. Captain Jack was excitedly talking to the Doctor then saluting him and running away. It was really interesting to watch all that was going on. It really made my day and cheered me up as I'd just been to a hospital appointment. I must say that John Barrowman is even more gorgeous in the flesh.
Mary-Beth and Martha Draycott from Essex
We met David Tennant, Freema Agyeman, Camille Coduri(Jackie) and Noel Clarke (Mickey) at the stage door after the Doctor Who celebration in the Millennium Centre. They were all really nice. We got photos and autographs x
Rachel from Cardiff
I saw David Tennant and Freema Agyeman filming in Llandaff Village. It was around Christmas time. I think its in this series (3) - it was amazing to see them. And I spoke to David. He was really nice. Shame I didn't get a photo or anything.
Sammi Munson from Rhoose Point
I go to Llandaff Cathedral School and we didn't go down to the cathedral for assembly because Doctor Who Series 3 was bieng filmed there - I think they were filming the Lazarus Experiment. Also I saw them filming in front of the National Museum in Wales.
Scott Carter, Stockport
When I was 4, I was at the Millennium Stadium with my mum & mum's friend. We were told to wait where we were before we could get to the car & when we got to the car a man said to me "If you'd been 10 minutes earlier you'd have seen the Daleks". I hadn't got a CLUE what he was saying... but I have watched every show since it started & now I wish we could've just got to the car then I would've seen one for real!
Abbey from Caerphilly
A few months ago I was up my gramps house when my uncle told me that they were filming Doctor Who up on the mountain. He had to go and work up there for the day so I went up there with him. We saw the Tardis but we didn't get any autographs.
David Clark, Cardiff
When we were working in Brunel House (in around 2004 / 2005)(9th Floor) I spotted the TARDIS in between the flats and British Gas building just outside Cardiff Queen Street. At first we saw cameramen up on the roof of both buildings, but when i looked down into the alley way I saw the TARDIS. I don't know which episode it was I'm afraid!
Kerry, Newport
Me and my son Ethan saw the filming in Charles Street, Newport. We saw David Tenant and took loads of photos - my son was dying to call David but was too frightened.
Joe from Merthyr
They filmed the Doctor Who xmas 2006 episode in the Baverstocks Hotel and they filmed Torchwood with Captain Jack Harkness one street away from my house.
Molly Rogers
I saw Doctor Who being flimed in Belle Vue Park for the last series where the Doctor said goodbye to Sarah-Jane Smith. I also saw the new episodes being filmed - Captain Jack comes back into Doctor Who cause I saw him and I got Martha's autograph!!! (lucky me). I also got a photo of David Tennant talking to Russell T Davies.
Ryan Mills, Bettws, Newport
I was in Newport city centre just before Christmas and I saw David and Freema filming in Charles Street. I didn't really know what was happening at first when I walked past so I walked up there and had a look for myself ... a few days later I was looking through the paper and I saw myself in there. I read through the article and I then discovered what I was in there for - it was about the filming. By the way I also saw Torchwood being filmed in Newport as well in the Baltica club on the high street. It was awesome...
Paul from Cardiff
A lot of the new episodes, as well as the Sarah Jane spin off, were filmed in the old Nippon Electric Glass plant on Ocean Way in the Bay, I knows coz I used to work there!!
Becky Stone, Cardiff
I saw David Tennant in Cardiff city center while he and Catherine Tate filmed the 2006 Xmas show. I watched them filming, chatted to both David and Catherine and got their autographs. I also got a photo with David, who was such a nice man and very friendly. He took time to talk to everyone and he made me laugh and smile a lot - I love him!
Emily Jenkins from Barry
I saw some filming in Fortes chip shop in Barry Island. All the frontage had been changed to make it look like a London coffee shop - I didn't see David Tennant or anybody as it was too cold to hang around!!
Andrew Evans, Cardiff
Seen David Tennant filming in Llanedeyrn Maelfa shopping centre in Cardiff - amazing.
Tina, Bridgend
I saw The Runaway Bride bring filmed in Cardiff by Howells and feel in love with David Tennant... he wouldn't sign anything though!!
Diana, Cardiff
There has been filming all over Cardiff - even my other half walked out the back gate with a bin bag and on to a set. But I didn't see anything until one day at the lights by the prison I spoted the top of a blue box over the wall of the playground. I asked the taxi to pull over, paid him and ran round to the entrance - after all its not the first time they have used a playground. It was a portaloo!
Rhydian Davies, Glynneath
I saw filming for the episode Tooth and Claw in Craig-y-Nos castle. I was so surprised to have all these actors and directors so close to my home.
Simon, Newport
I saw Doctor Who being filmed by Poundstretchers in Newport one wet evening, and my son had David Tennant's autograph.
Andy Macleur in Newport
Watched well over half an hour of filming on Charles Street in Newport. Diverse Records had a facelift overnight and looked like a vintage record store and antique dealers.
Phil from Cardiff
We were sat in the front row of the amazing Doctor Who – A Celebration concert in the Wales Millennium Centre. It was another excellent way to support both Doctor Who and Children in Need. We were lucky enough to get an opportunity to speak to Russell T Davies, Phil Collinson, Garry Russell, Rob Shearman, Gareth Roberts, Neil Gorton, Steven Moffat, Ben Foster and Clay Hickman. It was truly a fantastic event and we had a marvellous time. My friend Claire was even attacked by an Ood during the concert. ;-) That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. A huge thank you to David Tennant, Russell T Davies, Murray Gold, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conductor Ben Foster, the BBC National Chorus of Wales, BBC Cymru, the Doctor Who team, Children in Need and everyone else involved. :-D We hope you raised a huge amount of money for Children in Need.
Ryan Mills from Bettws, Newport
I was in Newport town not long ago and I thought I saw David Tennant and Catherine Tate. At first I thought nothing of it because David does sci-fi programmes and Catherine does comedy programmes - then I remembered that she was in the last episode of the last Doctor Who series. I was so pleased that I thought I saw them. About one hour later I left the town centre and walked through a car park and saw quite a lot of vans. That is when I realised I did see David and Catherine. I was so happy that I saw them but it was a pity that I didn't see Billie as well (even though she has left).
Mandy from Pontypridd
I saw the vans etc filming in Market Square, Pontypridd. My son said he saw some of the stars.
Tony Styles from Peterborough
Whilst on a visit to Cardiff in February 2006 we decided to go and look at the house where I was brought up in Florentia Street, Cathays. As we turned into the street from Monthermer Road we were totally bemused by the sight that greeted us. Unfortunately, we were too early for the filming; they were just preparing the set. I wonder what Nurse Davies would have made of it. It was her house where the main action took place. We lived three doors away.
Stacey from Llanrumney
I saw them filming the new series of Dr Who near the Millenium Stadium on Westgate street. I was really shocked and I stood and stared at the set at the moment David Tennant looked across the street. He smiled at me from across the street. I must have looked like a complete idiot!
Tom Jennings, Cardiff Bay near the train station
I saw the 'Fatts' vans with David Tennant and Billie Piper which probably means there's going to be a flashback. And I saw them filming The Idiot's Lantern.
Angela, Gloucester
My son works at Swansea University and he says that they were using their library as a hospital.
James
Seen the entire 15 lorries and crew at Swansea University over the past few days... how can we find out which episode it will appear in!?
Melanie, Swansea
Filming for the 3rd series has begun! They were filming outside Singleton Hospital ... unfortunately David wasn't needed but we did get to see the new companion Freema Agyeman who gave us a wave from her car as they left for lunch. The rain came down heavily and when we got back after lunch they'd packed up and gone!
M from Carmarthen
A nice surprise when I saw the episode of The Unquiet Dead. I used to live in Gloucester Chambers in Swansea which appeared in this episode as a backdrop to the 'snowy' scene where Rose and the Doctor were stood talking to each other in the middle of the street bustling with passers by (extras!). The building was the one with all of the lights (apart from the porch light) were turned off - you could actually see the room that I used to live in! PS If anyone can remember the ITV series called Mine All Mine aired during Christmas 2004 (starring Griff Rhys Jones and also written/created by Russell T Davies) Gloucester Chambers, Gloucester Place, Maritime Quarter was used in the first sene where the antiques expert got into the taxi.
Jim, Cardiff
I had just finished watching the 2005 series (The Empty Child) and I went outside and started to head towards work. I got to work and when I went out to have a ciggie break there was the Tardis and Billie and David just across the street filming the new series for 2006.
Lily Ames from Cardiff
I saw Billie Piper outside St Pauls Church, Grangetown, when they were filming Father's Day. It looked like they had stopped for a break, coz she was sitting on the curb drinking a take away tea!!!! Glad to see celebs like good old take away teas too! Good on ya Billie!
Mel in Cardiff
Doctor Who has been filming outside of my workplace in St Mary Street. We've seen both David Tennant and the lovely Freema Agyeman several times. The Doctor has been wearing the classic long, brown overcoat and Martha is dressed in a blue denim fitted coat and black trousers.
Ceri from Cardiff
Me & my friend went to go to the cinema before we had lunch & we saw David Tennant & Catherine Tate running around. We were right at the front & it was absolutely boiling & David Tennant shouted to us all "It's Blinking Boiling" but we had to go because we would have missed our film. It was so nice just to see them filming.
Amy from Cardiff
I saw them filming Doctor Who by Howells in town. There were snow flakes on the windows and everything, but too bad I didn't stick around longer, I might have seen Catherine Tate or David Tennant!
Beth from Cardiff
I was watching David and Catherine Tate running around St Mary Street this evening. How exciting!!!
Krystal Mills, Cardiff (Heath)
I saw David Tennant filming in Ton yr Ywen Avenue (near Lidl). When I found out he was making it near my house I was so shocked.
Alfie W, Cardiff
We went to the cinema and saw them filming in the car park. I saw someone there who looked a lot like Billie Piper.
Emily Taylor from Cardiff
I saw David Tennant and Billie - also I met Russell T Davies in Cardiff at the Christmas lights special. I also had a photo taken with Russell and my brother.
Neil Hartman from Barry
I was working in Splott quite a few months back, checking the water meter for a launderette (The one in "Love and Monsters"). I noticed a lot of activity and mentioned to the person I was working with that it would be a dream come true to be on location during the filming for Doctor Who (The show that I've passionately loved for over 28 years). To my delight, I turned around and Camille Coduri was getting herself a cup of coffee. I turned crimson and asked her for her autograph. She was wonderful and called me by my first name. It intrigued me as to how she knew me - until I remembered I was wearing my security-name badge. I apparently missed Peter Kay that day as he was on set down the road in a mechanics workshop as the Absorbalof. No TARDIS, Billy or David but it's still a day I look back on an grin at inanely.
Callum Jones from Merthyr
I saw them filming Tooth and Claw up in Fochriw last September. I was very exited and I managed to see David and Billie - I nearly fainted and I touched the Tardis.
Marc from Cardiff
Some exterior shots of "Magpie Electricals" (in The Idiot's Lantern) were being shot a few streets down from me. The production crew got very miffed at the flashes from people's cameras going off in mid-take! I think Fear Her was being shot there as well - I saw the Olympic torch prop.
David from Cardiff
Just saw Billie Piper and David Tennant walking through my street!! David has some sort of orange suit thing on and Billie looking quite normal lol!!
K.C from Gwent
Was working a night shift on Johnseys Estate in Mamhilad when the BBC crew came and started setting up ... was too scared to go for a ciggy break in case anything too frightening happened to be about!!
Jamie Elliott, Cardiff
Apparently there was filming taking place in Cyncoed because the film crew parked all their vehicles in my school.
Brett from Penarth
I have just seen a film crew in Cardiff Bay, Mermaid Quay to be exact, filming a scene from "Torchwood". I think this is the spin off from the current Doctor Who series. No sighting of the big names, not even the Tardis!
Amy H from Cardiff
I saw them fliming Idiot's Lanturn down Crwys Road. It was wickid and Billie stopped to have a photo taken with me (she is really nice) and I touched the TARDIS and I saw the tea party being filmed. Cool or what ;)
John from Cardiff Bay (Rat Island)
The second Cyberman episode (20th May) where the people were taken from their houses was filmed right outside my house here in the Bay, directly across from the old Hamadryad hospital, way back in December. David Tennant was very nice and posed for pictures with the local kids for me. Those evenings, it turns out, were filmed for a Blue Peter insert that went out in the beginning of May, with one of their presenters (Gethin Jones) inside a Cyberman costume. It's strange really, as I do a lot of extra work and they didn't use me, then a week later they used me for a sequence around the corner in Mount Stuart Square. Those episodes are the last in the current series, again featuring the Cybermen along with another old enemy of the Doctors. And no, I'm not telling who they are!
Liam Page from Newport
I saw Billie Piper by the river front in Newport. It's about time they filmed here, loving the show.
Nicola from Cardiff
I was fortunate enough to see part of the latest episode being filmed in Mount Stuart Square. Can you imagine my shock to be driving out of the car park where I live to be waved through by 10 Cybermen! Definitely one of my most surreal moments. It's really strange to see your street on TV. PS they were huge, wouldn't like to bump into them in a dark alley!!!
Lozi B in Cardiff
Saw some Doctor Who action in Cathays near my house and the set was all 1940's.....the Coronation of the Queen or King or something. Didn't see Billie or David but stuck around for ages and got to see some awesome night rain shots with this big machine and had a bit of a natter with a few crew members :D
Jan, Newport
We saw the Tardis in Newport by the famous red wave! he he! Loving the new series - hope they film another!
Chris, Bridgend
I saw them on Southerndown beach filming.
PS I've already been on telly!!!!!
Carl Kirby from Cwmavon, Port Talbot
A bit of history for you readers. In late 1970s early 80s it was reported in our local paper that two Daleks went missing whilst filming for an episode on the top of the Voel mountain that overlooks Cwmavon on the south and Pontrhydyfen and Cimla on the north side. And to this day have not been sighted - keep looking over your shoulders!!!!!
Stefan Vandaele from Ashby
My uncle supplied the hazel staves for the fight at the start of Tooth and Claw. He also spotted the TARDIS near Merthyr.
Zach, Cardiff
My Nan's street in Grangetown was closed to traffic for a week for the filming of the Father's Day episode. I sat in the front room and watched the Doctor running in the church with some bridesmaids. I also saw the first scenes of the first episode being filmed with Rose going in and out of a shop.
Sophie (Sofas) from Newport
I go to Duffryn High - I'm in Yr 7 and I saw Billie Piper when I was getting my uniform for school!! Hi to all my Duffryn crew out there =)
Kayleigh Merchant from Cardiff
I recently watched the new series of Doctor Who film being filmed in my local area in Llanedeyrn shopping centre - it was amazing to see. Billie Piper is very friendly and very talented in what she does, David Tennant is a great guy too.
Ceri from Cardiff
My Dad is a Security Guard at Cardiff Uni and last week the crew were filming at the Glamorgan Building - Mark Warren was in the scenes that were being filmed and it's supposed to be set in London, no sign of David Tennant though. The crew told my Dad that the Tardis was in the Bay so he didn't get to see it. Last year in the episode with Rose's father a scene was shot outside my Nan's house in Ely.
Gareth Pierce from Cardiff
Me and my housemate were extras for the new series two weeks ago when they were shooting by Debenhams!! It was very exciting. Didn't see Billie or David, but 'Barney' from CBBC was in the shoot, although it wasn't quite clear what the episode was about. It was still cool though!!
Brian Westwood g4s
Saw filming at Barry Island - lot of battle scenes.
Paul Oaten
I saw Rose's mum and Marc Warren, who is Danny Blue out of the BBC program Hustle, filming a scene in a laundrette in Broadway, Splott.
As I got there they finished filming and I didn't have anything on me so I could get an autograph lol.
JJ
The zero on number ten is incorrect. Take a look at the real number ten and you will see it is rather peculiar. I bet the Daleks did it.
Lyndon Owen
Billie Piper used my Loo (the episode was filmed in my office!)
adam reilly from newport
my 6 year old daughter is mad about doctor who, so when they filmed outside my works, i brought her down.
we met billie piper and david tennant and they were really friendly, posing for photos and signing autographs.
my daughter asks every day, when is dr who starting
Phil from Cardiff
I was extremely fortunate to see the marvellous Billie Piper and superb David Tennant filming at lunchtime in Cathays (Cardiff) last Thursday. David and Billie both extremely generously posed for a quick photograph with me. It has made this life-long Doctor Who fan extremely happy; I am still smiling about it today! Thank you very much for your kindness David and Billie!
I recognised the director Euros Lyn, who directed both “The End of the World” and “The Unquiet Dead” in the first series. It was absolutely fantastic to see a little bit of television history in the making and two amazingly talented stars.
Thank you also to the wonderful security guards for their kindness towards and tolerance of Doctor Who fans.
Also I have just read that the Doctor Who Exhibition in Cardiff will be open for at least another month. Fantastic!
Rhiannah - Not in Wales, unfortunately
I just love reading the sightings - but can you put dates to them as well? Cheers me dears!
(Editor's Note: For security reasons we're not putting dates to the sightings and we may also remove some specific location information.)
stuart

joe williams
my dads friend saw billie piper up fochriw mountain
Steve from Cardiff
Just seen David Tennant leaping onto a motorbike just down the road from my flat! Sadly he knocked his helmet on the floor in the process, but it gave us all a laugh!
Jonathan Fry from Cardiff
They are going to film a blowing up of our shop meters away from our school and we're all hoping to catch some of the action.
ryan hiscott , newport
I saw doctor who outside newport's river-
front theatre. I saw the tardis it was covered by a white tardis.
taff from high wycombe
They have been filming Dr who at St Athens, they had cybermen and daleks being filmed on the same day. Could there be a battle ahead?
David Batten Southerndown Bay
Billie was at Southerndown Bay in January, so I included her visit in this months surf report for Southerndown and Ogmore.
Mist. Blank winter deep. The dull months shroud us in their fog – Cold chrome Silver ... The only real Golden Warmth we’ve had at Southerndown Bay was the presence of Miss Billie Piper, Mid Jan. Her presence eluminated the Bay with her being, as she braved the cold to produce another episode of DR. Who. Her wavering Golden crop the only sunshine, that dazzled the rock pools that faint sun afternoon. And like four seasons in one day. One moment the Bay was aflame with her warm beauty. And as quick as a change in the weather…….she was gone, missed ...
ben cotton
i went on holday d saw the site whear the caves were and were they were filming the sord fight for christmas
patsy from swansea
i live in gloucester chambers (the big red building with all the lights off in the unquiet dead). my housemates told me how they kept interrupting the shoot by turning lights on and walking out the building. annoying for my housemates as we pay lots to live here and couldn't use the lights!
Anon, Wales
I saw David Tennant shopping in Cardiff a few days ago. I didn't look around to see if Billie was with him, he was far too interesting to take my eyes off!
Caitlind Smith from Gorleston
OMG! I met David Tennant! He was so cool and really nice. I also met Billie Piper. My 15 year old brother was happy.
Hannah-newport
it was all very exciting i got to see billie piper
Tony lloyd, Cardiff & Martin Ledergerber, Calgary,
We heard about a car chase scene in Court Road, Grangetown. The street names had been covered up with London street-signs. They must've filmed in carefully so that the Millennium Stadium couldn't be seen. Couldn't get there ourselves, as Martin, a great Dr.Who fan, was packing to go home to Canada.
But we did re-enact the scene where Rose's dad gets run over outside St.Pauls in Grangetown.
Tone & Martin <><
Kevin from Cardiff
OMG.... I have seen David, Billie and Pauline Collins filming an episode for the new series at Craig-Y-Nos castle.
I was actually in the castle whilst they were filming and got to see em running around all afternoon & evening....
The episode is about a lady who has a werewolf problem....and I still cannot get over how they transformed the castle's courtyard for the shoot.... and the lousy weather also...they would have been cold and wet all day...bless em.
Can't wait to see the episode....and to see if any of the castle's ghostly occupants make a cameo appearance...he he.
Sam,Cardiff
They were filming in the Glamorgan building last year, which is my home school, but I didnt see them. Then last night Billie and David turned on the christmas lights in Cardiff.I'm still hoping that I'll get casted as an extra!!!
Joshua from Newport
Like Frances, I go to Duffryn High School and I was in Doctor Who being an extra! It was good fun. We had a great time meeting the stars like David Tennant, Billie Piper, Noel and even Anthony Head. I got their autographs. It was nine days to remember and I still do remember - I store it in my brain. We did not see the tardis but we saw K9! Yeah I did. So look out for the kids in episode 3 of series 2. Bye!

I have seen doctor who once or twice and really enjoyed it. Me and jack both attend Mark Jermin stage school. In doctor who he looked funny dressed up in an alien suit and with a blue face.

Phil Lewis, Cardiff
I attended the Children in Need Doctor Who Galactic Dinner. There I met David Tennant, Billie Piper, Julie Gardner, Russell T Davies, Phil Collinson, Noel Clarke, Camille Coduri, Ed Thomas, Helen Raynor and Murray Gold.
They were all really friendly and welcoming. It was an amazing, hilarious and surreal evening. I had a FANTASTIC time and if they have another event I will definitely go!
I believe quite a bit of money was raised for Children in Need.
A big THANK YOU to BBC Cymru, the Doctor Who team and Children in Need.
Best wishes
Phil

Not really a Who sighting, but some wag has painted "Badwolf" on a wall near my local pub in Moseley.

Doctor Who was actually being filmed in my school Duffryn High. I had the opportunity to film in the summer but was on holiday. I was gutted!!!!

My friend Charlotte and I saw David Tennant in town. Charlotte got a bit excited and screamed at him and he looked at us strangely. I don't blame him.

I'm in a walking club in Deri Park and today saw Billie Piper and David Tennant. It was great to see them - they are filming in the area. I was so surprised to see them, I said 'Billie Piper'. She turned and said hi - it really made my friends and my day. We also saw some people in costume.
David from Newport
Didn't see it myself, but have heard they have been filming the 2nd series in Belle Vue Gardens in Newport. A lady walked in on filming on her way home from the Gwent Hospital. Have been to the studios where they do the indoor filming. It's great. No autographs yet...
Kelly, Cardiff
I was actually in Doctor Who as a tv extra. We did a night shoot from 5pm til 5am in Howells and Queens Arcade. I was then called back to film in the New Theatre. Chris and Billie are very nice friendly people and I enjoyed working on the programme. They were very long, but amazing days
Jeanette from Cwmbran
Was woken by a TV crew opposite my house at 1.30am on 15 September. Not sure if it's to do with Dr Who, but it was taking place outside St Dials shops? Can anyone tell me if it was please.
Bev from Cathays
I saw a large headed blue alien with long finger nails trying to smoke a cigarette. It was funniest thing I've seen in years!
Kelly Smith from Cardiff
I've seen it nearly every day following the crew to see where they go because I'm such a great fan.
Sarah M from Cardiff
We saw the Christmas episode being filmed in the centre of Cardiff the other day. It was a warm August evening and everyone was dressed up in winter coats and scarves as they did their Christmas shopping outside 'Henriks'. There was even Christmas decs up everywhere! We saw Billie and it was really fab to watch the scene being filmed, especially as I'm such a fan of the new series!
Anon, Newport
They are filming an episode of Dr Who in my school. In one scene a vehicle is crashed into our school gym doors. The school name in the episode is something like Derrfy Vale - they have put a coat of arms on our head teacher's office. It's all very exciting!!!
James Rock, Cardiff
I saw the Tardis outside the tower block where Rose stays with her mother.
Jayne Watkins - Abergavenny
Back in the early 70's I was a pupil in Brynmawr comprehensive school. Doctor Who was filmed in the grounds of a factory opposite the school, called "Control Data". Also, Around the same time , I remember filming taking place in a railway tunnel on Llanelly Hill (near Brynmawr), which is where I lived.
Les, Lisa and Lucy, from Monmouth
It was great to see the BBC crew setting up the scenery, we hope Dr Who will be coming back to Monmouth soon!
Lesley Elgar from Cinderford Glos
Visited Clearwell Caves in the Forest of Dean where the new series was being filmed. I met Billie Piper and Noel Clarke and had my photo taken with both of them.
Curtiss Adamiec - Swansea
After taking my sister to the train station in Cardiff I returned to my car in the car park in front of the station to find a vast amount of cast filiming in the alley way between the main street and the station.
Matt from Bradford
I was shopping in the middle of Cardiff

Roger Pierce from Cardiff
Late Monday night on my way home they were filming in the Hayes in Cardiff outside Howells Store. It was a Christmas set with trees and lights.
Aaron Fisher from Cardiff
I was actually in The Unquiet Dead. I'm the guy just in front and on the left of the possessed woman in the theatre. It was great fun and a truly amazing experience becoming a part (no matter how small) of the Doctor Who mythology!
trinkle from birmingham
Doctor Who said hello to me.
Steve from Ebbw Vale
I work as a delivery driver in the city centre, and saw the OB units for weeks. Also I was at the traffic lights one day on Newport Rd and Billie was alongside me! She spent ages brushing her hair.
Saskia from Cardiff
I also saw episode eleven (Boom Town)being filmed. It was really FANTASTIC! I wonder if anyone will see any of the new series being filmed!!
SIan in Cardiff
I saw Billie Piper and Noel Clarke filming a scene in front of Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. I can't believe that I saw the TARDIS! The series was fabulous and I have seen the TARDIS popping up in a variety of locations around Cardiff over the last few months of 2004.
Saskia, Cardiff
I don't believe I seen the first episode of Doctor Who who being filmed - it was great!
Alan Gardenson from Cardiff
Saw the TARDIS and Billie Piper in city centre. Got Billie's autograph and a kiss.
Matt from Cardiff
My cousin saw the tardis being erected by her house in the first episode and met Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston.
Matt from Cardiff
I think Dr Who being filmed mostly in Cardiff was a fantastic idea!!! It was really local to us Cardiffians! Oh, and another thing, how could they blow up Howells!
Sally
I saw the TARDIS being put up in Cardiff when I went to see my gran. She said they are always here and she's got Billie's autograph.
Terry from Cardiff

night shift workers in Cardiff
We are on St Mary's St in Cardiff and saw the tardis being erected about 5 times before they got it right and Billie running up the street outside Howells store at around 4:30am with a dummy's arm in her hand and the director shouting 'BANG' so that she'd react to the 'explosion'.
Martin Smith from Cardiff
doctor who was being filmed in the field at the bottom of my garden, the one with the kid what said "are you my mummy" and the gas masks burt on to the peoples faces
Rob, Cardiff
They had their trailers outside the Biosciences building of Cardiff University. Saw a small chap with a MASSIVE blue head having a quick cigarette! Had to double - or even triple take! Turns out he was the Moxx of Balhoon, but I didnt know that then of course!
Tracey, Cardiff
Had the pleasure of saying hello to Bille Piper whilst filming of the first episode took place at the University Hospital of Wales in August 2004. Also can confirm that the church in the Father's Day episode was indeed St Paul's in Grangetown as I recognised my old house in the background!
Kelly from Cardiff
I saw Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston on Queen Street just walking together.
Assumed that they were doing some shopping together...
(Didn't see the cameras, how dumb am I?) Saw the episode (it's the bit where they decide to get some chips and that Rose will carry on travelling) and it all became clear.
Ann Barry
My ten year old daughter spotted the TARDIS in the depths of the Millenium Centre this week.
marion richards Caerphilly
Nobody seems to have answered the question about the church. I thought it was St Pauls Grangetown, but would love to know if it was. Thanks. Marion Richards(Editor's Note: Yes it was St Pauls - click here to see the location guide)
Linda from Grangetown
Saw filming of 'Father's day' episode in Grangetown. Was taking my little boy to school and had to walk past the TARDIS! I nearly cried - felt like I was 6 years old again and very excited for the rest of the day - unfortunately most people thought I was mad! Our whole family is loving the new series and enjoying cardiff spotting. Daleks - Brilliant!
Kate from Carmarthen
I saw Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper filming in the Glamorgan Building which is part of Cardiff University. I wonder which episode it will appear in?
Calum from Cardiff
I have seen the bottom half of a Dalek at Llangollen railway station, but , unfortunately, not the top
Anne from Vale of Glamorgan
Just to say thank you for everyone who has written in with their stories about Dr Who on location. I haven't laughed so much in ages, especially the paratroopers being mistaken for terrorists outsde CRI and aliens on a fag break. Well done BBC Wales for having the courage to bring Dr Who back.
Alex Durrans from France
I visited some of the location sites in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago. Rose's shop seemed much smaller than on the screen, but what looked exactly as it did on TV was St David's market, where, in 'Rose', the Doctor persuades Rose to leave Mickey and go with him. It was strange to be standing in the same spot. The magic of fiction...
Suzanne Donald, Monmouth
I live in the flat above the Tardis 'landing site' (episode three - pictured above) which is known as White Swan Court. I sat on a window sill all night with my camera and got a numb bottom. Christopher Eccleston seemed impressed with the fake snow.
Sally from Thornhill
not actually seen the filming but there is a TARDIS in someone's garden in thornhill
Merv - Llanelli
I saw the new Dr Who being introduced to the actual Tardis for the first time in Cardiff. He was really nice and let me take a picture of him, the first picture of the new Dr Who and the Tardis and that's before the next series is made !
Gareth, Cardiff
Yes they have! The Daleks have been spotted at British Gas in Churchill way along with the tardis. This should be in the next episode on saturday 30th.
Chris Lowe, London
On my way back home from a club on a Sunday evening, I saw Christopher and Billie shooting scenes (Episode: Aliens, exterior scene on estate where Billie lived) on a council estate in Kennington. As the Doctor would say, "Fantastic!" It was rather surreal seeing the Tardis parked next door to my local newsagents! They were filiming there for about 4 days .. and as the scenes were mainly night time, the Tardis was guarded during the day by a security firm! It was surreal ...
Anon - Cardiff
My office window at the Assembly overlooked the Temple of Peace and I could see the aliens stopping for tea and fag breaks. It took me three days to realise they weren't my colleagues.
Judi from St. Clairsville, Ohio, USA
We were visiting friends on St. Augustine's Road, Penarth in October, and found ourselves just up the street from the school filming. As Doctor fans, we were delighted! We stopped one evening to watch the filming activity, but decided to move on when we thought we might be considered a security issue. I told my husband we could always claim we were friendly aliens! Hope we see the new series over here soon!
ZED from Cardiff
They were filming outside Helmont House in Churchill Way in Cardiff.
Lisa. Barry vale of glamorgan
My boyfriend and I drove over to Barry Island in the Vale of Glamorgan, when we stopped and watched the Doctor Who Series filming. It was very interesting watching the behind scenes. I saw people in costume, but not sure what the story was about.
De in Cardiff
I spotted the filming of Dr. Who while walking down Queen St. It looked like it could have been a low key documentary shooting or a school project then realized that they were shooting Dr. Who.
Darren Warburton, Splott, Cardiff
A few weeks ago I was doing my regular nightly 10 mile bike ride. The last leg of this ride takes me through the bay. I rode along the waterfont, turned left towards the Millenium Centre and as I got to the silver water feature I saw the Tardis.
My first reaction was fear, followed by delight. I stopped and watched the proceedings for an hour or so.
I carry a small digital camera in my bike's bag and took a few pictures (see above) ... it's something to show the grandkids in future years :)
I am amazed at how many people I have spoken to who didn't know that
most of the filming was done in Cardiff. Where have they been hiding for
the past 18 months?
AndrewAnorak, Cardiff
Rose's flat was in Gabalfa, not London as you state. The Doctor's line to Rose about the Earth spinning through space was filmed in Llanidloes Road, next to the home of the Draconians AFC.
Suzy, Monmouth
I had the Tardis outside my window all night which was rather surreal. As they were filming right outside the door we felt a bit like the 'in' crowd ducking under the crowd tape just to get home.
No chance of sleep as there was an arc light shining in through my window, but I'm not complaining. I just sat on the windowsill and watched the top of Christopher Eccleston's head for most of the night.
I have my bit of fake snow in a box now. I'm told I could sell it on eBay but I somehow don't think I will.
Tony, Cardiff
The production team turned Bargoed Street in Riverside (Cardiff) into a WWII London Street during the Blitz a few weeks ago. Word has it the episode will be entitled "The Lost Boy". Filming for this episode also included a few explosions in the locomotive graveyard in Barry Island, and some scenes around the Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
It was such a cold night, the Lost Boy himself (a pleasant young fellow named Arthur) was ushered into my sister's house between takes to warm himself by the radiator. I arrived to find a London schoolboy in 1940's blazer and short trousers, gas-mask on his lap, happily playing my nephew's Gameboy. Wonderful thing, telly.
The quality of the transformation of 21st century Cardiff into 1940's Blitz, the professionalism of the production team and the atmosphere on-set bode well for the series. It looks like the Doctor is in good hands.
Damian from Ynysybwl
It's a day I will never forget. Can't recall the date though. Heard on the internet filming was taking place close to my work. So I headed out, and on walking past the British Gas Building, there she was. The TARDIS. Made this near 30 yr old fan almost jump with joy. The fan in me wanted to run up and hug it and check for humming. I did manage to keep this in check though.
I'm looking forward to this new series entrancing a whole new generation of kids. My own son included.
Jon, Cardiff
I live round the corner from the Cardiff Royal Infirmary. On the first day of filming there were actors running around dressed as Paratroopers, my neighbours were freaking out thinking there was a terrorist attack. Later the next week, I was in the centre of town there I noticed a few people looking very puzzled wondering why red London busses going to Marble Arch were cruising along St Mary Street. I suppose it wasn't until a blue police box seemed to appear from nowhere that they began to twig.
Richard, Swansea
Got a tip off about filming in Barry a few weeks ago. Saw Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper filming a few scenes at the railway station. Very impressed and can't wait for the new series based on what I saw and heard.
Phil from Cardiff
I actually spoke to Christopher Eccleston whilst they were filming around Cardiff University. He was friendly and enthusiastic about the series. He was full of genuine praise for the production staff and their hard work.
Andy in Cardiff
Haven't seen anything round here, but I once saw the bottom half of a Dalek at Llangollen railway station!
Bob from Cardiff
It's been very bizarre, the tardis has been popping up in and around town, Billie Piper has been spotted many a time wandering around the main streets but sadly no Daleks have been spotted yet...
