As my name suggests I was named after the town of Cwmbran, but must admit its a sad place to live! People need to get out more and travel at least 3 whole miles to find technology later than the Sinclair Spectrum!!

Patrick from CoStar-Cwmbran
I'm responsible for that home of the roundabout sticker, live in Cardiff but like Cwmbran, but it needs more work. The housing is badly laid out and designed - new towns were all chucked up fast, but the people are the resource that can build a better town, just need to discover grants and energy to do it.

RICKY NOTTINGHAM
many yrs ago i moved away to nottingham and missed cwmbran ever since.ive worked in nearly every city in england and picked up a stupid accent as well if its so bad why do i miss it so much at the mo im tryin to save cash to move back cwmbran is the best place ever

Angela - Newport
All those whining about Cwmbran should remember what paying for parking, does to make life a misery! All areas have the pond-life elements, but Cwmbran less than most.

Alun Northville Cwmbran
I have lived in Cwmbran all my life. In my teen years I used to go to Pyramids which later turned into the Pleasuredome. Apart from the pubs there is little nightlife. Things will change in late 2007 when Cwmbran will have a multiplex cinema, bowling alley and another nightclub. Gone are the days of Town stores, International, Fine Fare, Woolco, Leo's and Bejam to name a few. It's big time corporate sector now and will keep on growing. BEST TOWN IN GWENT, FACT.

chris from cwmbran
cwmbran is the best place to live

a friend at Cwmbran
for the attention of Deb from Cwmbran Paraders I used to do to bands Cwmbran Commetts and Greenmeadow Startlights, I wasn't aware that there were any bands left, can you please tell me where they train

Martin from Bagillt
To Clive from Cornwall. I too left Cwmbran over 20 years ago but miss it greatly. I regulalry return to visit family and take my children and their friends along. Even their friends who have never seen Cwmbran apart from visitng it with us, recognise it as a brilliant place. Of course there are better places, and I am glad you love it so much in Cornwall but to turn your good fortune into a "down the nose" snipe at a really lovely place is just plain sad.

Clive, Cornwall.
I moved out of Cwmbran 25 years ago and came to live in Cornwall amongst green fields and sandy beaches. These things are important to me, more so than the multistorey carparks and square concrete buildings that I had all around me in Cwmbran. You're welcome to that; I'll stay here.

Drew from pontnewydd
Cwmbran has excellent facilities and its a really good place to live in! Theres everything u'd ever need! the doctors, schools, dentists, shops! everything! i couldn't think of a better place to live and grow up in x--x

Jonathan Meredith South Africa
I love Cwmbran so much it is always so warm and sunny over here. There is no need for a sunbed as it is all provided by the sun. The people here are so warm and friendly which must be due to the warm weather over here. But i have to go now as i will be late for my tanning session. Love you all from freezing south africa. xxx

Brynn Merritt, Hampshire
My wife and I lived in Ebbw Vale for five years and we both loved going to Cwmbran to shop and walk around. Everyone was so friendly and pleasant. Yes, it's a great place and we miss it.

josh from cwmbran
a peacefull town with everything u could ever want.

Liam tucker from cwmbran
it's a brilliant place, everyone is kind and generous and i mean everyone including dogs. people might say it's a smelly place but they're crazy, the neighbourhood's completely BRILLIANT!!!

sam newport
cwmbran is so much better than newport for shopping and the parking is free . what more could you want

SOPH, BETH, YAZ,CATH AND JODIE FROM LLANTARNAM COM
we love Cwmbran. We all like to watch the clouds and make lemon juice in the green valleys of cwmbran filled with blue sheep.

*me* from cwmbran
i think that cwmbran is ace. the shops have improved loads over the years and shopping has gotten alot betta. ive lived in cwmbran all of my live and even though i get tired of it sometimes coz ive been here so long i culdnt imagine living neware else. i lovfe cwmbran after all it is my home town. any one who bad mouthes cwmbran needs there head examined or sumthing because cembran is GREAT and the BEST PLACE EVA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike Smith
I live in Croesyceiliog and have lived in Cwmbran most of my life. OK, the night life ain't the best but Cwmbran is not far from newport and the night life there is pretty good. Out of all the places I have been in the UK I think Cwmbran has to be one of the best. I would find it very hard to move to another city in the UK.. would have to be a very high paid job. I dont want to live in this country for much longer.. but Cwmbran is better than any other town/city in the UK.

Clare
anonymouds sounds like a newport chav to me. Cwmbran is a great place to live. Cardiff is train ride away for nite life -Cwmbran has everything you could ask for.

luke oneill cwmbran
iv'e lived in cwmbran all my life and travel back and for to cardiff everyday and cant wait to get back to cwmbran,i love cwmbran. the shoping is brill, free car parking everything u really need to make a great town. and the ppl are just the same GREAT! : )

Mrs Gill Morris, Nevers, France
I lived in Oakfield Park Estate until 1960. Then married a Danish/French boy and am still living in France(Nevers). I am now 64yrs and, boy, do I miss Wales, especially now that I am retired... and haven't been back for 15yrs! (too busy with my nursing job and six grandchildren).

anonymouds
cwmbran is just full of a bunch of townies who all need a good kicking!!!!

Jo from Cwmbran
Cwmbran is the best place in the world to live! I couldn't even think of living anywhere else! It has anything I could ever want! Cwmbran is great!

Tammy, Newport
As a Cwmbran girl through and through, I am so disappointed to say I now live in Newport. needless to say, if I need to pop into town I will still venture into Cwmbran - not only is the parking free (i am no tight ass) but it is a much more pleasent place to shop. The only bad things I have to say is the night life is not brill, but then again I can't really afford a night out with all the tyres I put on my car from all the roundabouts, ha ha x

Unknowingly in Cwmbran
Is Llantarnam's moving rock in Cwmbran real or just a legend? As I heard someone say that there was this metre-wide rock in Llantarnam that at night moves around Cwmbran on its own. They said something about it being in the paper is this fact or fiction? Can you tell me?

Lara from Cwmbran
I love living in Cwmbran, and John Morgan in Varteg - et your facts right! First of all, you say you cannot find the shopping centre and you say you have only been here three times. Later on, you say you pass through it regularly and that shopping has improved, which implies you have been to the shopping centre. FYI it is green, as I live next to some very large fields just across the road. There are loads of fields. In Henllys there are loads of fields and we even live on the side of a mountain for lemons sake! So, in other words, get a clue before you trash talk my town!

Vanessa Evans from Dorset
I grew up in Cwmbran, Croesyceiliog and when I left I thought Cwmbran was small compared to where I had moved to. Seven years later and seeing this website, I have to admit, being part of a small town has its benefits. I still visit my mates and good to see so many changes in the town. Cwmbran is home and always will be.

Michelle from Coedeva
I have lived in Cwmbran all of my life and never want to move! its so clean and green. Ok so the night life isnt that good but if it was then it might get like Newport!. Work in Cardiff and cant wait to get home to Cwmbran by the end of the day!

Shane Pontnewydd from Cwmbran
it had only one skate park - well 2, but only 1 good one - and a rubbish cinema but it's still kool.

Deb Wilcox
cwmbran is a great place to live. i was born in southville and now live in greenmeadow. my parents run the jazzband, the cwmbran paraders.

Gareth from Cwmbran
In Asda the skaters always get asked for reciepts even if they are not purchasing anything. Just because they wear baggy jeans the Asda staff immediatly think they have stolen something.

Lesley from Cwmbran
Cwmbran could do with youth clubs etc there is nothing and nowhere for our teenagers to go and when they congregate in gangs people think they are out to cause trouble but what else is there for them to do?

John Morgan in Varteg
I don't think Cwnbran has anything on Telford. Three times I have been there, never did find the town centre (is there one?), went round and round in ever decreasing circles until I disappeared from the place. I travel through and around Cwmbran almost daily and never find it a hard task. The shopping HAS improved since the refurb of the centre, the outlying areas are pleasant and green. The place is very 'open' and as it is central to the lower part of Gwent it makes a good 'capital' notwithstanding the preminence of that artificial place Torfaen. Cwmbran, Crow Valley, call it what you will, it is OK by me. Just one gripe. Sure there's free parking, but if you drive a large van, not so. Not all people drive cars, some have a van to get about the place, but they have precluded vans from entering the open parking area opposite Asda, and I cannot get under the covered area. A rethink on that one please.

Carl
Lived in Cwmbran all my life. I couldn't think of a better place to live myself. I mean, look at the shopping centre - free parking - pedestrian friendly - undercover - improved bus services. My girlfriend is from Devon and she loves it!

Terry Price, ex-pat in Beaune, France
My family were the printers in Coronation Street which today, I think, is where Woolworths stands. Most of their work was for all the surrounding industries! As a boy I remember going to see all the top dance bands at the Girling social centre. I think my father Tom Price was well known before the war for motor bike racing with Phil Saunders of Pontymoil, as they raced in Aberdare and the Pontypool straight mile.

Kelly
I've lived in Cwmbran all my life and love living here. It's so much better than Newport!! The nitelife ain't brill but it's a nite out with your mates. I agree with some people with the bad areas but it is changing. Most areas are seen as terrible because of the people who live there but there are other decent enough areas - unlike Newport!

Garth Lewis
I think Cwmbran is great - I would never live anywhere else. There is no need to - it has everything me and my famly need.

Rebecca
Life in Cwmbran is great. With so many historical features including the Llanyrafon Mill and nearby Llantarnam Abbey, there is so much to see and to find out about the past.

Jane in Caerleon
I was brought up in Llanyravon 40 something years ago and now live in Caerleon. I always do my shopping in Cwmbran because its easier to get to, cleaner and more choice in the shops than Newport. Also there seems to be less pond life hanging around. I work in Newport and never out in my lunch break. Give me Cardiff or Cwmbran any time.

Gary Evans, ex-pat in New Zealand
If anyone wants to get homesick, visit this excellent website. I left Wales to live in New Zealand 22 years ago. Although I have been back many times I still miss my people and there ways. Thank you, this is brilliant. See you soon.

Jeff Roch
Well done Cwmbran, Wetherspoons up and running and it's proving popular with the shoppers and residents, and with Wilkinsons and Matalan moving into the town centre it is looking good. But can Cwmbran Shopping tell us what is happening with the car park that was taken down to make a cinema? Is the cinema coming or could we have some sort of leisure complex other than another keep fit centre?

Nathan Beani Morgan
It's a great area - plenty of fields to play. I had a great childhood growing up. The only problem is too many out towners like the area and are moving in. Another problem is that there is only one brewery in Cwmbran, and it only supplies the Bush Inn. It is good news that the Weatherspoons chain is coming, as it always has a wide range of guest beers.

Emma Gould
We have free parking, undercover shopping facilities, loads of sports and leisure facilities. The atmosphere is nice and there not really that much trouble compared to neighbourings towns.

Sandra Miller from Newport
Getting in and out of Newport has become a nightmare. Having lived there for 45 years I now no longer travel into Newport to shop, but choose to go to Cwmbran which is easy to get to, free parking and a clean and tidy environment. I have also been lucky enough to secure new employment in Cwmbran, after having worked in Newport for 26 years. I can't face the daily grind of either shopping or working in Newport City any more. The city is being killed by the roadworks, bus lanes and stubborn attitudes of the people responsible for the whole mess!!

Megan Owen from Cardiff
I have many fond memories of staying with my late grandparents at Five Locks Close in the late 80's / mid 90's. Playing down the 'bomb site', going down the village (Richmond Street?), also playing down the rec by the canal, really too many things to mention. Had a great childhood - plenty of friends to play with. I'd hate going back to Cardiff, where there'd be no children in my area.
