I think Llanbradach is rubbish, it not safe to walk the street because of all the kids hang around there.

i lived in trethomas, can you tell me when the cheese fair is?
Ryan Powell from Caerphilly
I think it's horrible they are closing St Ilans. I am a year 9 pupil and am going to be one of the pupils most disturbed as it will be half way through my GCSEs when the school is closed.

Caerphily: Wonderful in the day-time, not safe in the night time.
The countryside around Caerphilly is stunning. The local hunt is full of the nicest people you will ever meet. Can not get a cup of tea on a Sunday except in the supermarkets. But the chips from a little street along side the lights top of town are very moor'ish.
Council are incompetent at best, pavements & roads in a bad state (no money they cry) & then plant thousands of pounds of flowers. Not much use to the locals who fall over the uneven slabs or fall over the holes when thier foot catches.
The people would not save the local hospital, its a done deal now! the school in also a done deal for those who think they can overturn the council ideas. but its GOING TO BE FULL OF HOUSE. All the deals are done outside council meetings.
I would not live anywhere else.
Have a great life, unless you are a council member.

I have now lived on Lansbury for the past 6 years, and i don't want to fight anything that moves, you get good and bad where ever you live council estate or not and i do find the people here friendly, so please leave us alone and let us all live in peace.

i love living in caerphilly but when i grow older in life i would like to move away to bigger places
Gareth, now in Dunfermline
To add to my comments I made in Nantes, the night Wales won the Grandslam, I was beaten to an inch of my life by three teens with steel bars, on the outskirts of... a notorious council estate near Bedwas Road. It has become a very dangerous place to live now, and that will never leave my mind. I did not mean to offend the gentleman who commented on my last posting, but being covered in blood makes you a little biased. I hope everyone in Caerphilly is doing alright though, and avoiding people like the ones who ruined what should have been a monumental day for all of Wales, and myself.
John from Caerphilly
I'd like to reply to Oliver Jones' comment. Yes, Caerphilly has chavs but could you name a place that hasn't any? (I'd also like to say that if you're going to critisize Caerphilly, use correct spelling and punctuation)
I think Caerphilly is a great place, as it's not quite the city and it's not quite the valleys - In my eyes, a perfect combination. The fireworks and the big cheese at the castle, are both great events! Events that make me feel proud to live in Caerphilly.
damon williams
caerphilly is lovely
Kathryn Williams of Caerphilly
I had to reply to what Rod in Cardiff wrote,
about good old Caerphilly with its castle and moat.
I went for my schooling to St Cennydd High,
with Trecennydd fish bar and the sweet shop nearby.
The pubs on a Friday night here are quite busy,
you'll often see people wandering 'round dizzy,
then off for a kebab, a chinese or chips,
then home in a taxi - don't forget tips!
There are lots of things changing here in our town,
I hear they are trying to close St Ilans school down.
One of the main schools - it will be a shame,
They say that a lack of good grades is to blame.
Let's hope that the parents and teachers make ground,
And the whole situation can be turned around,
The kids need a school that is close to their home,
It's not right to make them walk far on their own.
Apart from that sad news Caerphilly is fine,
This beautiful and historic town of mine,
My heart and my soul here in Caerphilly stays,
and there shall remain for the rest of my days.

I love Caerphilly, especially when there's loads and loads of beer flowing. Fireworks are great. Cracking kebab shops after 11pm they put loads of meat on. Also the Cedar Tree is a good night out.

I met this man in Catterick Camp in 1951 and wonder what happened to him. He was in the Royal Signals, and so was I. My name was Chris Williamson then. If anyone knows him, please comment. Thanks

I have lived in Cardiff, Brigend and Camberley, Surrey but always wanted to return to Caerphilly. Its a lovely town and very friendly. All my family live there and I can't see myself living anywhere else. The Caerphilly Cheese festival is amazing and also the Firework Display at the Castle every November when thousands go to watch the displays. Wherever you go in Caerphilly you can see the mountains. Whenever you go shopping you always bump into friends, relatives etc.
Gary Powell, Tamworth, Staffs
I was born in Abertysswg and spent my teenage years in southern and central Africa, settling down in Caerphilly when I returned at the age of 19.
I married an Abertridwr girl and Caerphilly became my home for nearly 20 years.
We moved to the midlands 18 years ago but return home frequently as my wife's family still live in Caerphilly. We never feel happier or more comfortable than when we are at home and find leaving after each visit gets harder and harder.
We look forward to the day in the next two years when we can return.
Christine from Trecenydd
I would just like to agree with Stanley Hicks' comment from Ireland. Caerphilly is a great place to live and a lovely town, and it's about time he came back home to his roots.
rod in cardiff
caerphilly festival and the cheese

I would like to say that Gareth Seaborne comments should be directed at some people that live on council estates, not all people. I have lived in Caerphilly for 35 years and lived on council estates all that time and I can assure you I don't go around picking fights with people and alot of other people don't either. Caerphilly is no worse than any other small towns it could be a lot worse, take a look around Cardiff, Newport, Merthyr.
Stanley Hicks in Northern Ireland
I am from Caerphilly - I was born in the Crescent, Trecenydd, near Groeswen School, not far from the castle. You can't get a better place to be brought up as a child. It is a place I now go on holidays and to see my mother and family I left when I joined the army back in 1969. The place changes
every time I go home but the people never
change. Pubs & restaurants are great - you
should go for a visit and go around the
castle. If I ever move it will be back to Caerphilly.
Tom now in Finland
Have to agree with Gareth Seaborne 100%, which adds to my earlier comments, I was one of the first paramedics working there, and it saddens me to see the things people can do to each other. Heck I could write a book on it but what's the point people that do these crazy things will never understand. I wish the place a prosperous and peaceful future.
Paul Stephens
I moved to Wales in April last year and now work in Caerphilly. Wales has got to be the friendliest country in the world and all parts of Wales have the nicest, most genuine people anywhere!
Gary Frampton, Saratoga Springs, Utah, USA
I spent 9 months there and found it to be a very nice place to live, even for a short while.
Gareth Seaborne
A great place to live with 90% great people. However - idiots of the highest calibre driving around town at all speeds, fascist bouncers on the doors of the pubs, a dedication to under-age drinking, and people from council estates wanting to fight anything that moves - outweigh the good points. I miss the town, and the good people, but Nantes is where I want to be now.
